Gingerstar was safe in her den and her thoughtful eyes were watching as the light dimmed outside. It was the Gathering tonight, and it was time to choose the cats to accompany her... though she should have been thinking of it earlier, today was busy and she had a lot on her mind. Now was just fine. And it was never a tricky task, choosing cats.
Her thoughts quickly organized themselves and so she lifted off her moss bed, licking her flaming chest fur down into place again. She ducked out of her den and trotted to the center of camp, her ears flicking as Gingerstar looked around, quickly, making sure that the patrols were all in.
"Cats of Pineclan, lend me your ears. As you know, the Gathering is tonight. The following cats will attend: Smokestripe, Rainfur, Otterfur, and Brackentail along with the apprentices Spiderpaw and Sandpaw. As usual, No-ears, the deputy, and the medicine cats will come," Gingerstar announced, loud, clear and very direct, as usual. She was never one to flourish, and one would admit that she wasn't the most charismatic leader.
"I expect every cat to be ready when the time comes. If you are not by the exit of the clan by duskfall, you'll be left behind."
With that, Gingerstar got herself a nice plump vole, settled down to eat her dinner, and began to plan just what she was going to say at the Gathering in a few hours time. [/size]

X X Sandpaw stood in excitement. She was going to the gathering! She was literally teeming with happiness. This would be her first, she had always wanted to go to one. It seemed as if Gingerstar had finally deemed her mature enough to attend a meeting. Sandpaw's stomach gave an impatient grumble. She imagined it grumbling at her, "Gathering or not there better be food for me, Missy!" She laughed at her imagination then padded over to the fresh-kill pile.
X X When Sandpaw reached the prey she bowed her head respectfully to Gingerstar then grabbed a mouse and lay down a respectful distance from her leader. She didn't want to seem too pushy about the Gathering. All in good time. She though to herself. Sandpaw ate her mouse quietly and quickly, excited about the upcoming events. She was excited that her mentor would be coming too.
X X When Sandpaw finished she stood and walked over to the entrance of camp and sat down, prepared to wait patiently. She did not mind that she would probably be waiting for quite some time before the group left, she would probably need this time to calm herself so that she could show Gingerstar that she was mature and almost ready to be a warrior.

X X Oakwhisker sat in the corner of the camp and lashed his tail irritatedly at his leader's decision for who would be going to the Gathering. He had nothing against Gingerstar, in fact he thought she was a wonderful leader, he just thought that he of all cats should be going to the Gathering. He was the only one that believed in StarClan. Of course, nobody knew that he did so his irritation didn't quite make sense. When Oakwhisker thought about this he shook his head, embarrassed by his own irritation.
X X Oakwhisker knew that Gingerstar had a lot on her paws, she couldn't worry about who she was upsetting because of her decision for the group that would be going to the Gathering. He chuckled at his stupidity then curled up where he was sitting. He knew that at some point a patrol would need him, but things had just slowed down from her announcement. He would do his part in PineClan when everyone got over the Gathering fever.
