Name | Sootpaw
Gender | Tom
Age | Eleven Moons
Rank | Apprentice
Clan | FogClan
Beliefs| Sootpaw believes in his clan. He believes in his goals, his clan’s goals, and the fact that two heads are not always better than one. Especially if he’s that one head. StarClan is a tougher subject for him. If asked, yes, he’ll say, I believe in StarClan. Deeper thoughts lead him to wondering about StarClan, but he can say for sure that he believes in them.
Parents | Jet (father, not played) and Rain (mother, not played)
Siblings | Thunder (brother, not played) and Sky (brother, not played)
Other Kin | Sound (uncle, not played)
Mate | Not Yet
Crush | Not Yet
Kits | Not Yet
Apprentice/Mentor | Hailstorm
Appearance | The first thing one would notice about Sootpaw is his uniform gray coloring. His entire body is one shade of pure, dark gray. Hardly a single fur breaks away from the color. The only place where it does is his tabby M, slightly darker on his forehead and a small splash of lighter gray on his muzzle.
Sootpaw is rather feminine looking. He’s on the smaller side, though he doesn’t really care about it. He has small hips and dainty paws. His face is slim and his tail is long, always curled up at one point. His ears are also small, sitting at neat little angles on his head and almost always tilted forward in curiosity. His eyes are a pale amber, almost yellow, and very large compared to the rest of him.
Personality | Sootpaw comes off as a cold cat. He likes to snap at others, his voice raising a few notches as he rattles off insults to whoever peeved him off. It’s not a difficult task to anger this apprentice. Especially when one asks stupid questions. StarClan forbid someone should ask him a stupid question; he’ll have their ears for dinner.
As a young cat he would get a lot of attention, from his mother mostly. He was obviously the favored kit. Despite his growing dislike of his mother, Sootpaw couldn’t get enough of her compliments and kind words. And whenever he was around other cats (mostly his brothers) they would only confirm when he knew in his head, that he was smart. So Sootpaw’s got quite the ego and the vain tendencies to go along with it.
But perhaps it was because of him being almost pampered and coddled by his mother that he grew to be a coward. His father was almost never around and his brothers were dragged along with his father for training. Being left alone with a small, weak she-cat during thunderstorms and close-encounters with fierce creatures did quite a number on Sootpaw's bravery. He’s paranoid and jumpy and has almost no clue how to interact with new cats, it's a very akward task to him.
He’s loyal though. Sootpaw is loyal to his clan, his friends, his goals, and still to his family. Some nights he’ll sit in the den and wonder exactly where his loyalties lay the most. Does he belong to his family? Or to FogClan, the clan that took him in without question? Perhaps his loyalties are with the single members of each group. His brothers are constantly in his thoughts, mingling with those he reserves for his friends within FogClan.
Skills | Despite his small size, Sootpaw is a skilled fighter. He uses his speed to his advantage to dodge around his opponents before lunging into the attack. Sootpaw is not the best hunter. He was never very good at it and going out to practice makes him feel embarrassed. Sootpaw is, however, very fast. Both in physical speed and mental; he takes pride in his brain power.
History | Sootpaw was the only kit born in his litter. No stillborns, no early deaths, simply one lone kit. He was named Ace at the time; his parents were Rain and Jet. Ace had two older siblings from a previous litter named Sky and Thunder, both brothers. When he was younger, he would often hear his brothers (who were a good seven moons older) talk about how they disliked him. With their litter and his so close to each other, their mother grew weak and almost died.
By the age of five moons Jet declared that Ace would not grow to be a decent "fighter" size. Instead Ace had gained his place in the family as the smart one, a trait apparently passed from his uncle who Ace only met once as a very young kit. With age came more respect from his siblings, especially since their mother obviously favored the young Ace. Thunder and Sky had gotten over their jealousy of the new kit enough to act as true "older brothers" to Ace. Soon the three young toms were practically inseparable.
Except for their training sessions. Thunder and Sky got the larger genes in the family; their father would always whisk them away for battle training. Ace would always been left behind with his mother and a near insatiable urge to learn. That’s all it seemed he really wanted—to learn. During these times when his brothers weren’t around, Ace found himself growing cold toward his mother. She was such a dim-wit! She never questioned life, death, how things worked. Her need to understand learn was nonexistenant. It bothered Ace to know end. He soon formed a feeling of contempt for the pretty gray she-cat and any other cat that wasn’t one of his brothers. To this day he still blames it on how the she-cat mothered him too much and never aided him in learning.
It was very recently that his family strayed into FogClan territory. They hadn’t meant to of course, but when confronted by a patrol, the larger toms in the family hissed and jumped to protect their she-cats. Well, she-cat and a small tom. The fight was brief and the toms went home with injuries, Rain tending to them, and Ace no where to be found.
His environment within his family would not be substantial enough to grow in power. He needed a new place to stay. A new place to grow and get stronger. So Ace had stayed behind and the moment his parents were out of site he dashed for camp, almost begging the impressive looking she-cat named Owlstar to take him in as a member of FogClan. He was given the name Sootpaw for his dark gray coloring and happily took up role as an apprentice of FogClan.
