Beliefs | Owlstar was told from birth about StarClan and how powerful and influential to every cat they are. It helped her accept a lot of things she may otherwise have been questioning any and every day of her life. Owlstar isn't constantly in contact with them, always asking for advice, but the knowledge that StarClan is there for her whenever she needs them is extremely comforting to her.
The fact that a Clan that shares her forest and doesn't share her belief and respect for the cats of Silverpelt irks her severely. There are many nights that she stays awake, trying to wrap her mind around their thought process, that there's no one up in the skies, and every time she can't imagine it.

Appearance | Owlstar isn't a skinny, lithe, or even very graceful she-cat. She has an average build, slightly more muscular than the usual she-cat, but this doesn't give her any less of a feminine form. She has a rather thick, muscular tail, though it isn't as flexible as an average cat's.
Simply described, Owlstar is a tuxedo cat, though seems to have more black in proportion to white. The back half of her body is black, broken by small strips of white, though her tail and hind right leg are both completely black. Her eyes are covered by a black mask though her muzzle is white with a black smudge across her nose. She has extremely long, curling white whiskers. Her eyes are a vibrant yellow-gold that stand out strongly in contrast against the black mask that takes up over half of her head.
Her fur is rather thick, no matter the season, making summer a risk for her, the heat making her faint during the slightest of exerting tasks. Winter gets a bit harsh for her, since it only thickens slightly in the transfer of seasons. Her favorite seasons are Spring and Fall, because she loses the excess weight of her fur as it warms up and gives her extra speed. Towards the end of Summer, as it cools down, she's able to do more without the risk of overheating.
Personality | To say Owlstar has an aggression problem is a bit of an understatement. She's not physically violent so much as snappy and rather volatile. She is a rather surprising she-cat, proud and slightly egotistical with quite a bit of swagger. Since she was able to voice her opinions she's been stirring up trouble with her sharp words and snappy tongue. Owlstar isn't one to start unnecessary fights, but when she sees flaw or something shady, she's never been afraid to call the cat out on it.
Her intelligence is an extreme asset to her arguments; she always has the right comeback ready to fire back, every time. She knows what boundaries shouldn't be crossed and won't say unnecessary things just to get a rise out of the other party. She could argue for hours as long as the other cat could keep up the argument intelligently. If they start making points that don't satisfy her, she'll just turn and walk away without another word.
Owlstar has problems with letting things go and is definitely one to hold a grudge for many moons, though they aren't petty things. To her. If she feels personally attacked by another cat, she will remember word-for-word what they said to her and she'll hold on to it until she finds the proper way to go about confronting the cat about it.
Skills | Owlstar has always excelled at hunting, though her heavier frame doesn't make her the lightest walker. Her muscles help her cover long distances at rather fast speeds, using her powerful legs to propel her forward. After hunting, her next best skill is fighting, again, her heavy frame helping to give her an advantage against most she-cats and smaller toms, though she has a bit of a struggle against toms that are a much greater size than her. Her greatest flaw would definitely be balance. With her thick, heavy tail, if she's prowling on a tree branch, it takes more effort for her to twist her tail about and keep her balance. Owlstar also isn't built for sprinting so much as long distance. Her heavy frame weighs her down, but she is able to maintain an even pace for long distances.
History |
kithood
Owlkit was born the fourth kit out of four, though she wasn't the runt, like most youngest are. Her siblings were Badgerkit, Snowkit, and Magpiekit, two brothers and a sister. Badgerkit, Magpiekit, and Owlkit all took after their parents in looks, all having various patterns of short, black and white fur. Snowkit, however, was pure white with long, extremely soft fur.
The kits were born and raised in ForestClan under the reign of Elkstar. The kits grew quickly, but it was apparent that Badgerkit and Snowkit would be great warriors in the future while Owlkit and Magpiekit hung back with their mother. The two were always invited to play, but they chose to decline every time, fearful of getting hurt or made fun of.
Ternfur and Swiftfoot had extremely differing views on raising their kits. Ternfur preferred to coddle and comfort them whenever she thought that they needed it, while Swiftfoot was always sure to correct them when he saw fit. During their fifth moon it became apparent that their parents had favorites. Swiftfoot would give small lessons to Badgerkit and Snowkit about fighting or stalking, while Ternfur allowed Magpiekit and Owlkit to be their own free spirits and do what they liked. However, Badgerkit and Snowkit took this as a sign of weakness in their younger siblings and began bullying. They used Magpiekit and Owlkit as their own personal practice things in order to perfect that day's lesson on.
At first, the two just put up with it and if their siblings got too rough, they'd call for help and go running to their mother. But eventually, Owlkit and Magpiekit started to change.
Apprenticeship
With their new apprentice names, Owlpaw and Magpiepaw thought that their siblings would be too busy with their duties to bully them, but whenever they were in earshot, Badgerpaw and Snowpaw would make sniding remarks to them, calling them kits in apprentice's fur and saying that they'd be apprentices for their entire lives if they didn't start learning faster
Badgerpaw grew stronger and more handsome and popular among the other apprentices and warriors; Magpiekit was retreating into himself and becoming more detached everyday from his family, especially Owlpaw, who had been his one confidante from birth; and as Snowpaw became even more beautiful and graceful, more toms were beginning to fawn over her and follow her around, hanging from her every word, while Owlpaw became increasingly aggressive and volatile to everyone, until she was always alone except for Magpiepaw, who followed her around like a shadow.
The siblings each learned their requirements, Badgerpaw and Snowpaw excelling at whatever they were taught, while Owlpaw was above average and Magpiepaw was steadily falling behind.
All through her apprenticeship, Owlpaw's mentor and the current deputy of the Clan, Brownfang, was always telling her of the ways that she thought the Clan should be run, where warriors were always the most powerful and honorable, above every other cat. Owlpaw admired the way he thought and worded his ideas. Everything just seemed to fit in her mind. She was proud to have such a smart cat as a mentor and tried extra hard at whatever she learned in order to impress him. It was in this time that Owlpaw began spending less time with Magpiepaw and more time with Brownfang, always wanting to listen to what the intelligent warrior had to say. Magpiepaw avoided Brownfang, however, untrusting of his ideals.
One day, when Owlpaw blew off spending the day helping Magpiepaw with duties around camp to go on a patrol with Brownfang, the two siblings got into their first argument with each other. Owlpaw said her brother was just jealous of Brownfang and wished he had thought of the concept first, then stormed off to follow Brownfang, not knowing how deep she had cut her brother, shredding the last bit of hope that he could, in fact, be a good warrior in the Clan.
Right after the fight, Magpiepaw left the Clan and became a loner, where he earned the name "Doppleganger" for the strange markings on his face.
Warriorhood
Though she thoroughly missed her brother, Owlpaw along with Badgerpaw and Snowpaw all earned their warrior names on the same night, becoming Owlstorm, Badgerwhisker, and Snowstream. A few moons later, Elkstar died and Brownfang earned his nine lives, becoming the new leader of ForestClan. He put his ideas in effect right away. Owlstorm couldn't have been happier for her old mentor. Until he didn't pick her to be deputy. Instead, he had picked the adopted son of Elkstar: Cedarclaw. She couldn't believe that he had picked him over her, when she had stood behind him all that time in which no one else would. She had defended him and lost her closest friend because of him, and got nothing out of it.
Owlstorm became convinced that Cedarclaw had done something to make her look bad in the eyes of the leader and that's why he had picked the Cedarclaw instead of her. It was at this time that she vowed to get Cedarclaw back for ruining her chances at the ultimate respect and power of the Clan.
However, this was also around the same time that Cedarclaw had decided to secede from ForestClan along with the cats that still believed in Elkstar's way. Here, she became torn between staying behind and taking Cedarclaw's place as deputy; and keeping up her "rivalry" with Cedarclaw. Her decision was cut short when the cats took up Brownstar's haughty dare to leave and they accepted it. In a split-second decision, she ran after them, figuring that she would get back at Cedarclaw and then return to ForestClan as something of a hero.
On the journey, Owlstorm spent almost all of her time on her own, not really wanted by anyone because of her blind devotion to Brownstar. They questioned her about her motives for coming with them and often called her a spy of Brownstar, but she ignored them and learned how to verbally defend herself against their onslaught. When they eventually reached the lands, Cedarclaw informed her that he'd received a dream from StarClan that she would be leader of FogClan and would travel with him and the other two leaders-to-be to the designated area and receive their nine lives. During the ceremony, in which she received a life from Elkstar himself, he told her why she was chosen: for her fight, loyalty, and long-buried knowledge of what was right.
Owlstorm gladly accepted her lives, left her loyalty to Brownstar back with her old warrior-self, and become Owlstar.
Role Play Example |
Owlstorm walked in stride with the other leader's to-be, the stoic silence enveloping them as they became lost in their own thoughts. The black and white she-cat stared at the powerful shoulders of Cedarclaw, soon to become Cedarstar, working back and forth with each step. She wondered what it would be like to fight against him, should anything break out between these newly formed clans. Her eyes then moved to Gingerclaw. Owlstorm didn't quite trust the frigid she-cat, but she could feel an air that attracted her. Perhaps the underlying ferocity that she could feel was constantly present. Cloudfang was the one that she knew the least about, this being the first time that she's ever met him. The four of them were a strange combination, but they all seemed to fit together in some way or another.
The calls of birds and scurryings of animals were slowly growing more and more distant until only the faint whisperings of the cats' paws against the grass was the only thing to be heart. The sun was steadily setting, bringing on the night that would change each of their lives forever. Just as Owlstorm was beginning to grow impatient and tired of travelling, the small group entered the clearing. The rising moon shone down upon the pile of boulders where the cats would be spending the night. Everything was peaceful. Not a sound was to be heard and there was not even the slightest breeze to stir a single blade of grass.
In unplanned unison, the four, soon to be leaders broke into a fast loke and began scaling the boulders with exact precision. Owlstorm's stocky body held her back, not allowing her to leap as large of a distance as the others, but she still kept pace, her drive not allowing her to show weakness and fall behind. the black and white she-cat was the last one up and was being watched carefully by the other leaders. Instead of quailing beneath their weighted, silent gases, she shifted her shoulders and stared back at them with harsh, yellow eyes.
They all settled into spots, equally spaced about the top of the boulder. Owlstorm placed herself between Cedarclaw and Gingerclaw, which showed, in her mind, that she wasn't afraid or intimidated by them. She rolled herself upon her back, tucking her paws up and turning her face to the moon that was steadily reaching the center of the sky. She pondered what the dream state would be like and suddenly, as she stared up at the moon, a cold chill raced through her fur and she was no longer on the boulder, among the other leaders, but standing in a thick mist, with Silverpelt above and nine shadowy figures surrounding her.
