3.4.10 MAJOR UPDATE

Right, this announcement is going to be long. There is an awful lot of ground to cover, and I ask for your patience and plead that you read the entire lot.

As you may or may not know, Crow has now taken an indefinite hiatus due to personal issues in his life.

This is most definitely a saddening event, because Crow has been head admin here since the beginning and has been a great, amazing constant in the site’s life. With his leave, which he states may be permanent, he leaves a great hole in the community, for he is much loved and has been the most spectacular figurehead and admin FoF could ever ask for. I think I speak for all of us when I say we will miss him, and we will most certainly welcome him back to FoF with open arms if he is able to return.

However, FoF will not die with his leave. Even though Whiskers and I know Crow may return, we have little choice but to act as if his leave is permanent and we will both be taking full control of FoF. We will soon be trying to construct a new admin team so we can bring the site back to normalcy as quickly as possible. As, well, ‘second-in-command’ (a title I’ve seemed to be labelled with), I will be taking on the role of ‘Head Admin’, but Whiskers and I will most definitely be ‘co-owning’ FoF as much as possible. Inevitably, this change in leadership will bring a lot of changes to FoF, but the admins will try as hard as possible to keep FoF as the same, friendly place it has always been. As far as we know, none of the rules or values of the sites will be changing, you’ll simply see Rolo putting up the activity checks and ordering people around in a Crow-like fashion (you thought you’d seen Admin Rolo? You ain’t seen nuttin yet? ;P).

But anyway, unfortunately things really are going to be up in the air for a bit. Both of us ask that you be patient with us while we adapt to our new responsibilities and get new staff trained and in place. Crow, Whiskers and I all had our separate responsibilities and areas of expertise, and now we must both take up Crow’s, which will take some getting used to. As we have said, we’ll try and get the site back to normal as soon as possible.

Now I shall outline some of the things we are planning to do, just to keep you all informed :

Staff

As mentioned before, FoF is going to need to elect new staff to ensure everything is done, especially since Crow has gone. Here is what is gonna happen.

Admin: Yes, we are looking for a brand new admin. However, although regrettably breaking with tradition, these auditions will remain closed and we will be approaching those we deem suitable for the job through PM. This is not meant to be unfair to those who want to apply. FoF’s admin team requires very different skills to those of moderators and it really is best for the site if we approach those we know can do the job. This way, we can keep our admin team close, cheerful and highly-skilled.

Bio-mod: As before, we are still looking for that elusive bio-mod. Applications closed a while ago and the admins have looked over the entrants to find that the results did not point to one person in particular. We very quickly realised we’d set our poor members a very hard task, telling them to analyse something in FoFs-style when they didn’t even know what our style was.

Therefore, in a few days we will be opening ‘Round Two’ in our search for Bio-mods. If you are still interested in the role, you will be asked to analyse the cats again… but this time with a nifty guide to help you ^^. Once we have all entrants in, we will choose our bio-mod.

Cats

Crow has put some of his cats up for fostering (i.e. if he comes back, he will be taking them back) because of their various roles in plots and because one is a ranking. We will need players for these ASAP.

Cloudstar(SC) – Streamclan Leader
Silverflower(FC) – Involved in Mistpelt plot. Adopted by Sophie
Blackpaw(FC) – Involved in Mistpelt plot, leaving with Owlstar. Adopted by Ghost.
Otterclaw(PC) – Father to kits.

Will need players ASAP, as they all have things to do. Crow’s other cats are:

Tigertail
Jaggedclaw
Foxflower
Red
Shrewkit
Jaypaw.

All these cats, minus Cloudstar, will NOT need an rp sample. This is because we want them to be taken up quickly. We will, however, keep an eye on what you’re doing with them to ensure they’re not going too OOC. Cloudstar, who needs to be filled ASAP, will require an active rper of a higher rp standard, and if you are interested, please post an rp sample here.

Plots

Crow has posted on the FC plot thread with instructions as to how the ending of the thread will play out. If you read that, you should be able to work out what is happening. With the return of Kelly (Owlstar’s player) the plot is just about to get back on the road again, Owlstar’s downfall is imminent.

If you are a main player in the plot, your last opportunity to post in this thread to seal your place is approaching fast. If you are planning to leave with Owlstar, you MUST post in the thread to confirm your place or Owlstar will simply leave without your cat. If you are interested in gaining a place with Owlstar and have not done so already, you must post on the Takeover thread and apply on the Plot thread.

Whiskers and I will be encouraging members to come up with plots for the other clans, particularly Pineclan and Streamclan. These plots will be on a much smaller scale to the FC Plot, but will attempt to get activity up in these clans. When these plots are accepted and open for places, I will modify this thread with further info… but keep an eye out for new plots, nevertheless.

FoF Projects

The 110 Drabble project seems to be getting increasingly popular and is gaining speed. We might well have to start doing a ‘Drabble of the Week’ award or something, to point out the best works as there are plenty about which deserve some recognition.

Now, on an unrelated note, Rolo has noticed we have quite a few budding artists on FoF and has realised that we’ve not really been utilising the talents people have here. Therefore, in a few days, the admins are planning to start a brand new project to collect pictures of ‘scenes’ that have happened through rp at FoF (either on an event, like FC plot or just a general one, advertising the marvels of FoF) over a long period of time so we can put together a video, for Youtube, broadcasting the amazing artistic members, characters and rp FoF has. Look out for a proper thread on this in a few days, but in the meantime, help us decide what kind of event/style you want in the video by posting here.

General

[Rolo]

Anddddd Rolo realised today we need another staff member:

Official graphic maker: Since Crow did... well, practically all of the graphics for FoF, and me and Whiskers are definitely not apt with Photoshop, we will need an official graphics maker to help us make images for the site. These will usually be simple things like the 'admin banners' and the things on the sidebars. These are relatively simple, and it will simply require you to put make images in the style Crow has already put down. Soon, we will be desperately in need of these graphics and (unfortunately) they need to be refreshed pretty regularly.

This is open to everyone, but I'll be taking auditions. If you are interested in the place, post here and tell me so. I'll think of an audition piece for you to create.

if it comes into point that ya can only apply for graphics maker or bio mod, i think i'll go for the graphics job, more my line of expertise.
still, terrible to hear about crow :c hope he deals with stuff quickly and manages to get back to us, regardless of how indefinite he may believe the current situation could be D;
