Share your poetry here. I command it. SHAAAAAARE.
I'll go first. So we can get the crap over with and make way for the good stuff. |D
Morning in Memories
Behold the morning, The bright sun’s glare, The sweet scents drifting through the air.
There’s nothing quite like it, To sit there alone, With nary a person, fax or phone.
Glance around, There is no sound.
Listen twice, Glance now thrice.
I know it now, There is a sound. It hums and thrums, it shakes the ground.
Where it is, I cannot see, But it holds me there so that I may not flee.
Is it that stream? Is it only a dream?
Thin as lace, Yet it holds this place.
I hear it now, A beautiful sound, And its wily source, it has been found.
Where flies the crow, I do go.
Where Otter sings, And Fox has the strings.
I must be dreaming, For here are hares dancing, And Stags and Does merrily are prancing.
Fox plays the fiddle, Cougar bangs his drum, Greatest here, the sound does thrum.
Glance around, There is much sound.
Partners lift twice, Spin now thrice.
Happy is the reel, To join them, I yearn, And when I ask, they all turn.
Quick as that, They’ve withdrawn, Even their merry song has gone.
Filth and smudges, Dirty drudges.
Waste and slime, Hardened grime.
A city has replaced them But where did they go? The creatures that remain walk with heads hung low.
They are not joyous, They are not free, They are locked up tight by humanity’s key.
Sadness. What I had seen, Was what must have been.

Note: This was a poem for a school project. We were reading The Freedom Writers Diary, and we were assigned to write a "find poem." Essentially what we were supposed to do was choose lines or excerpts from the book that moved up, and after we had finished reading the book, choose some of those lines and put them together to make a poem. None of this is my writing, I just stuck it together.
Silence Will Get You Nowhere Silence will get you nowhere. Emerson wrote about being self-reliant. A truly self-reliant person finds his weakest link- And strengthens it. Suicide is something that's on my mind All the time, But the knife is too dull. It kills our souls and tries To take away our lives.
Silence will get you nowhere. I have never heard those words from anyone before. They represent more lives cut short, More cut flowers.
What are you supposed to do When someone swings at you? Silence -- Will get you nowhere. I can't believe what I did today! I told them Everything. I felt so welcome. This is not something I'm used to.
Silence will get you nowhere.

Carry On
Carry on little leaf, floating from the tree. You’ve found your river-wind, So follow it, follow it!
Carry on little leaf, riding on your breeze. The risk is great but you’re taking it, So look ahead, look ahead!
Carry on little leaf, rising to the sun. They said you couldn’t, but you did, So rejoice, rejoice!
Carry on little leaf, falling from your peak. You reached the top, but the ride has only just begun, So take heart, take heart!
Rest now, big leaf, lying on the ground. You can only look above now, look at other littler leaves, Tell them, Carry on little leaves, carry on!

My Earthquake They walked towards me. The ground shook. And yet there were no tremors, No earthquake, Save my trembling thoughts. Thoughts aren't words So they were not heard. And then they passed by. A crack was left in their path though, Forever in pursuit of them. My earthquake.

Nightmare
A shadow shrouds my vision Blotting out the stars I fall into unreality The sky now seems so far
As the cold night blurs Sleep lures me in I try to fight, to stay awake But am still dragged down to my sins
I cannot move Cannot breathe A prisoner Of my own dream
I can hear voices Of cruel accusations They talk to me Of my hopeless ambitions
I’m choking with cold Slipping away I want to wake up But it’s not yet day
Ghosts of my past Flicker behind my eyes They’re taunting me I feel like I’ve died
I try to remind myself That this is just a dream That nothing can harm me But I can’t block out my screams
Now I lay, trembling Wishing dawn would break That light would return So that I can awake
Suddenly, I feel Hands shaking me I cry out in relief Now I’m finally free
The night is still cold But now I’ve been released Once chained by a nightmare I’m alive again; it’s ceased
note: yes, i know it is made out of phayl. >>

Exit Stage Left;; Time is fleeting, but the sun still shines. The light cast upon the sillhoutte, and the beating heart that follows.
Stand straight, read this line, don't screw this up! Stumble,
fall. Laughter echos. Exit stage left; into the beyond.
Into oblivion. [/blockquote]

Maybe you can remember enough to sprinkle stardust onto dusty memories and bind faded photographs with strands of moonlight and the fragile silk of night skies. Maybe you can remember enough to alight our past in the sun's golden rays and watch unspoken thoughts stir whispy clouds around and disturb flying dragonflies with their jeweled wings.
We used to hide in abandoned hollows, lost in dreams and promises and whispered secrets. We would watch the stars and create c o n s t e l l a t i o n s of our own, laughing and smiling and being happy. We lived in a dizzy world long forgotten, even by those who had played so contentedly in it several years ago.
Can you picture dozing dandelion fields and colorful balloons spiraling down pale skies? Transparent droplets of dew, quivering as ants creep by?
Remember, remember- but also know that memory does not always serve us well.

Expect whatever you wish. Deny whatever truths you like. Ignore whatever pain you desire. See what you wish to see. Listen to the static and the background noise. But never Think that I will do the same. OOC: this is rather random, because luckily I generally don't have people trying to tell me what to think.

can you hear the voices? calling haunting cruel whispers on the tips of their snake-like tongues. voice trembling, i speak, the words already made and perfected but not by me. the world becomes dark. no longer safe, no longer happy, i fall, hapless victim, vulnerable to them. choking, drowning, dying, i cry out, but the voice that speaks is not mine. it's theirs. then, the light. i awake. a nightmare, nothing more, until i hear the voices.
