In this part of camp, snow was, thankfully, limited. And despite the soft flakes falling, Dappledflower found it considerably warmer. Maybe it was her thick coat, or maybe she had grown used to the cold after so many moons of dealing with it. Really, it was horrible timing to raise kits. They had been born just before the cold settled in, and now they were living their young lives through it. The queen couldn't believe they were already four moons, though. They were getting so big! And so rambunctious- they would definitely fit in well with the apprentices in the apprentice den. But that was still a few moons away, and Dappledflower didn't need to worry about her babies growing up. Right now she was taking them outside, not for their first time, as they had tread the ground before. But this would be their first time seeing snow.
Hopefully, they would enjoy it. Snow, despite the cold, was a wonderful thing to play it. It would help release some of the tension the siblings probably felt from being cooped up together these last few days. Now they could jump around in soft, fluffy snow and be kit like again, instead of the sourpusses they had been turning into. “Kits? Come out now, don't be shy. The snow is a lovely friend, if a little cold.” She giggled gently, watching the nursery opening in wait for her kits to come out. Maybe Rabbitstep would join them as well, though Dappledflower was sure he was busy with warrior duties. How troublesome- oh well, he was a dedicated warrior. “And play nicely.”

Fawnkit heard her mothers voice. She jumped up right away, and popped her head out of the nursery. A gust of cold wing blew in her face, making her whole body cold. She let out a tiny yowl. She took a deep breath, and trotted out of the warm nursery. It was cold out, but the tiny snowflakes falling caught her attention, and made her stare at the beautiful snow. She pounced on a snowflake. It slowly melted. She purred, and jumped on another one. And another one. She looked up. She stuck out her tongue, and the snowflakes fell in her mouth. She let a few more land on her tongue, and pounced on a few more.
"Mommy! Look! I am a hunter."

Cold? Hah, this wasn't cold. Shrewkit felt plenty warm out here in the white wonderland. His brown tabby fur was puffed up and full, keeping in all of the warmth that his body produced easily. It was actually quite pleasant, the kit decided, sweeping his pale blue gaze across the unfamiliar territory. Already flecks of brown and gold dotted the blue, a sure sign of his age. Oh yes, soon he would be apprentice age and serving his clan like he should, not being stuck in the forsaken nursery like some newborn. He wasn't a newborn! Four moons! That was plenty old enough!
He growled, kneading the snow with a firm paw. Pray this snow be gone by the time he received his apprentice name! How horrible it would be to start training in the snow. That would surely make things difficult. Then again, Shrewkit was always up for a challenge. “Hah! Hunter, don't fool yourself, Fawnkit. S'just snow, really pathetic – don't even move!” He snorted in contempt, whacking a few flakes himself, just to show how easy the whole thing was. [/blockquote]

"No! I am not pathetic. And it is moving, you flea brain." She hissed. She looked up at the sky, and slowly followed a falling snowflake with her eyes.
She looked at Shrewkit, and felt guilt wash over Fawnkit. She didn't have to hiss at him. But it didn't matter, cause she knew that Shrewkit would forgive her. Being brothers and sisters..
She launched herself at Shrewkit, and gnawed on his ear. "Now, I am a fighter! Not so pathetic, huh?" She purred.
She kicked at Shrewkit's belly, and jumped off. She rolled in the fluffy, soft white snow. She brought her face to the ground, and slowly licked the snow. She knew it was water, but it tasted different. She spit it on the ground, and noticed the gross taste. Dirt.
"Ewwww! She wailed.
She licked Shrewkit's fur, smoothing it out, but secretly was just trying to get the taste out. She looked around for a pile that wasn't touching the ground. There was some piled up on some moss. And if sick patients could lick moss for water, then it must not taste too bad. She padded up, and bit into it. She chewed on the quickly melting snow.
The cold ran through her mouth, but it was still cool. She took another bite. And another.
"I love snow! She purred.

- just set them up...
Sootkit groaned inwardly. The last thing he wanted to do was leave the warm den to roll around in a bunch of cold, wet, water. But no matter what he thought, he had to get out there. Rabbitstep wouldn't sleep in just because of some frozen water. Fluffing out his gray pelt to keep in warmth, Sootkit padded out of the den with his tail and head high. No Warrior was scared of weather!
Blinked at the change of lighting, he was amazing. The snow was covering everything! Ground, trees, branches, even some of the cats out and about. The tabby stuck his paw in a little pile. Small dots of white were slowly following from the ground, adding to the snow. Narrow his eyes, he slapped a paw at a flake. "It's...cold." Sootkit meowed, flicking his ears.
Snow wasn't very exciting.

“It's moving in the sky, mousebrain! Everything moves in the sky.” Quite maturely, Shrewkit stuck out his tongue. But his venom was resolved quickly, as Fawnkit barreled into him. The young tom purred, shoving back at his sister. Now this was a fight! … Sort of. Shrewkit couldn't really attest to what a fight was, seeing how rows with his siblings like this one were the only fights he had ever joined in. When his sister jumped off to lick the snow, Shrewkit collapsed into a fit of giggles. “Idiot! You don't lick snow. That's dumb, it probably taste like FogClan. Yuck.” Once again, the kit stuck out his tongue.
Wiggling, Shrewkit momentarily feared for his sister's sanity. She was just jumping from one emotion to another. That could not be healthy. And besides, no one was allowed to lick his fur! … Except Dappledflower, of course. “Gerroff!”” But he was too late, Fawnkit was off and... Eating snow? What? “... Yer not eating snow, are you? Holy StarClan that's weird! … Is it cold? Aw man it's probably freezing, lemme try!” Previous disgust forgotten, Shrewkit bounded over to his sister, taking a bite of the frozen water himself.
Oh yeah, it was cold.
“No... No duh, Sootkit,” he remarked, spitting out the melting snow. It wouldn't freeze his mouth together, right? It better not, he needed his mouth for talking! [/blockquote]

FAWNKIT IS NOW BLIND.
Fawnkit purred. "I am not an idiot! Anything but, Shrewkit. Hmph. That made me sad." She joked. Curling her lip so it looked like she was frowning, and putting her tail down. "Cats probably eat snow all the time! Furball, did you notice it was water? Eating snow is just like drinking water." She sighed and looked up. Oh, how the sky must look. Was the sky rainbow? Or perhaps grey? Maybe blue. And the snow must be an amazing color. Maybe it was the color of Fawnkit's fur! Whatever that was. Maybe it could be white. Since water is clear, and when it freezes it turns to a different, but close color. If you consider clear and white close to each other. She purred once more, and cuddled with Shrewkit. He wasn't going to like a girl sit close to him, but she thought he would understand.
"Oh Shrewkit. What does the sky look like? Is it pretty, or is it ugly? Am I eating something that looked nasty?"

"No...No duh, Sootkit."
Sootkit twitched his tail, meowing a "Wasn't talking to you, flea-brain!" before flicking a small ball of snow at Shrewkit. He ran over to where his sibling were, butting into the conversation of eating snow. "Rabbitstep once told me that one Leaf-Bare he had to eat snow because all the water had frozen. 'Said that he almost froze his tongue off!" The tabby's eye went wide at the last sentence; How could a cat live without it's tongue?
"The sky is normally blue," He meowed before Shrewkit could. "But it can be all sorts of colors! And it goes on forever..." Sootkit looked at the gray above him, narrowing his eyes as he tried to chance a glimpse of a end to the world.

“I didn't mean ta'! He exclaimed, not realizing his sister was joking until it was too late. And when he did, Shrewkit put on a face, pretending he had gone with the joke the whole time. Psh, embarrassed? He so wasn't. Nope, not Shrewkit. Though, his fur did heat up quite a bit when Fawnkit snuggled close. Why did his sister have to be so touchy feel-y? Or were all girls like that? If so, she-cats were stupid and they needed to learn not to cuddle. Stupid she-cats.
“The sky is blue,” he started, only to be interrupted by Sootkit. Hey! Sootkit shouldn't have answered! Fawnkit asked him, asked Shrewkit – not their nosy brother. Then again, Sootkit wasn't all that bad at this explaining thing. “Like 'e said, the sky is blue. Blue's like... calm, n' quiet, n' peaceful – like nap time! Yeah, blue's like nap time. And it goes on forever. Never ends! S'always neverendin' blue... Right now it's gray though. Gray is like wakin' up, when you're all groggy and stuff. Sometimes the sky's black, which is like sleepin' , where you can't see anythin'. It's really dark. And before it's black it's all the colors! Red n' orange n' green n' yellow n' purple n' blue n' pink... S'really girly lookin'.” He finished with a nod. “Snow's white which is pure and pretty lookin', like you, and like our ma'.” [/blockquote]
