Why do Anime boys have girlish features?

Is it really just me, or is it true?
And it's not all of them. There's a fair amount of anime men that are still musculan, but there are some that aren't.
For instant, think of Howl down there below this text.


The movie is awesome and all that, but just look at him.

GIRLISH FEATURES

His hair is long and, unfortunately, girlish. First of all, regular men tend to have short hair. Howl's is long and was originially blonde before Sophie organized his shampoo and he accidentally chose the wrong one.

[eyes, eyelashes, and eyebrows]

His eyes are a very light shade blue, a very un-manish color. No offence to blue- or baby blue-eyed men, but even you know that deep down, blue just isn't a manly color. Brown would be a nice choice, but no, they have to make Howl's eyes blue.

And he has eyelashes. They are on the long side, don't you think? Boys don't have long eyelashes. Not even the semi-girlish ones. Another sign of Howl's un-manlyness. :/

And to top it all off, he has unmanly eyebrows. xD

I know, some guys do wear earings and necklaces, but look at Howl's choice. The earings are raindrop-shaped and a pretty greenish, but still unmanly, color. Plus, alot of men don't wear necklaces. It's just an unmanly idea, so they avoid it.

BUT HE IS NOT ALONE.
There are other anime men just like him out there.

Now as for light-blue, maybe that's on the feminine side, but darker blues work for either gender.

Long hair being considered a feminine attribrute is a load of crap. x3

In anime especially. Take a look at Renji (Bleach) when his hair is down. It's pretty darn long, but in no way is he feminine.

Also, color has nothing to do with it either.

It would be strange if someone of Howl's personality didn't have eyes like that.

Yaoi boys tend to be extremely feminine if they take the female role.




Most of the girlish pictures you'll find will be of yaoi characters or young boys. x3

It's kinda a fad for boys to be girlish at the moment. Just like how in America, it's currently a fad for girls to have shorter hair than normal.
