Fo reals yo. |:
1) There are wolves in Colorado. The cats would know about them.
2) Just because wolves could kill/eat cats doesn't mean they would. As Hardy mentioned in the c-box, yes, they might pick off a cat every once in a while, but if they were present it's not going to be 'OMNOMNOM Cat Soup'. That's even less realistic than having wolves in the area. Cats aren't exactly prime prey. Furthermore, banning wolves because they would eat all the cats would mean you'd need to ban bears, hawks...pretty much every predator that might or could eat the cats in the area. Hell, if it comes down to a matter of hunting cats, it seems like coyotes would have been a better choice to knock out, considering their 'taste for cat flesh'.
In any case, it's not like the cats are fat layabouts just waiting to be picked off. They can fight or flee in accordance to what predator is try to nom them.
Blah. It's late and my thoughts are a bit muddled. e.e

agreed. moose and deer (which are extremely common in the area) could also be a danger to cats if they're by themselves and it's the rut when they're at their height of aggression. this thought is a bit more flimsy, but there are so many predators that are a danger to a cat, so i think that this is an 'all-or-nothing' thing. we can't ban one possible prefix for cats because there are animals that are dangers to cats and leave the others, like fox- and the like. so if wolf- isn't allowed, then bear-, coyote-, hawk-, fox- and any other animal that could pose a threat to a cat shouldn't be allowed.

I don't know about that...some are much more of a threat than others, Poi. Hawks are barely a threat at all, but the big land mammals are a possibility. What we really need is more research done.

they're still a threat, though, to kits and young apprentices. or even older cats. eagles are a danger too. they're larger than hawks and could pose a threat to warriors also. there are eagles in wyoming (i think they might be golden eagles) that will pick up and carry off lambs. and, according to wikipedia (here) they're out in colorado and in that general area all year round, so they're definitely a threat. and wikipedia even says that they prey on wild and domestic cats.
i think any predator that is a THREAT to the cats should be allowed in the prefixes. if we have fox- then we should have wolf-.

Hawks down here get cats. A lot. My Uncle's cat spend one-too-many days in the field and became a hawk's meal.
But like I've been quoted on and said before, a wolves just aren't going to constantly attack the cats. Yeah, some cats are going to get picked off mostly rogues, but not in a 'OMG we're all going to die D8' way.

IMPORTANT Alright, y'all. I'm going to post this so everyone actually remembers what happened on the cbox, and that NO ONE will continue this debate.
FOUR of the staff said YES to environmental. Do you know what that means? It means that objects from the environment that FIT the cat's appearance can be used as prefixes. And I quote, it's "how we do things here". So, Wolf- IS an acceptable prefix. Wolves ARE the environment
Now let me tell y'all something: if you start this debate again, you better have a damn good reason why. But before you do any such thing, you WILL PM me. This has been settled and there is no point in continuing something that's over and done. As Staff, I ask you to refrain from bringing this up on the cbox and any other thread. I know how you people are. You pick and pull at these things. I have seen it and it has caused arguments and people HAVE told me they have become upset about names. So for the sake of peace, be good and listen to your mod.
Thanks for reading.
