Notice: Some of you might remember that I had a different thread for the 100 Word Prompts contest. Well, I made a new thread (this one) because I wanted to redo all the prompts, but don't worry. I moved the old thread HERE in Fan Work (writing) because I know there are some of you who liked reading those drabbles.
The old drabbles are not part of this thread and should not be counted as such. They are now "archived" in Fan Work and will not be continued. To put it simply, they're now there just to sit and collect dust until someone comes along and reads them again. All in all, just think of Calling All Fools as version 2.0 or a revamp.
Thanks, Slug

39. Porn Lust “Daddy?” Ravenkit asked, a puzzled frown on his maw as he squinted up at his father. His daddy was considered to be a tall tom by many and where he towered easily over fully grown adults, Ravenkit could sit in his daddy’s shadow and no one would ever notice him. Some thought the warrior to be frightful because of his size and glaring yellow eyes, but Ravenkit knew better. Daddy was just a grump.
“What.”
Grumpy, see?
“They’re scaring me.”
Those poisonous eyes glanced at him with irritation. “Who?”
“Mr. Cedarstar and Miss Gingerstripe. They keep making cow eyes at each other. It’s weird.”
A snort. “Making eyes, Ravenkit. Not making cow eyes.”
“It’s cow eyes, daddy.”
“Do you even know what a cow is?”
“It’s those pink things, right?”
“That’s a pig, not a cow.”
“Well, fine. They’re making pig eyes at each other!”
For the first time in moons, Crowclaw laughed.

58. Forgiveness Crowclaw had messed up. Normally he wouldn’t care, but this was different. He felt the shame and horror of what he had done. He felt the guilt nestled deeply in his chest. He messed up and now Ravenkit was gone.
He had never been so afraid in his life.
“Ravenkit!”
Crowclaw ran. He ran, ignoring the burning in his lungs, the jabbing pain in his sides and the tearing heat in his muscles. He ran through the meadow, enduring the stinging slaps of wheat he passed. He ran for his Ravenkit. His.
The thought of no Ravenkit in his world hurt. He wouldn’t allow it to happen. He wouldn’t let her take his son away. He would make things right again. He would make Ravenkit believe. Crowclaw loved his son and Ravenkit would know it.
“I didn’t want you in the first place!”
“I want nothing to do with you...”
“I wish your mother had kept you instead.”
Crowclaw had messed up, but he would make everything better.
He had to.
---
Word Count: 175 Cast: Crowclaw and Ravenkit (mentions of "nameless mother") A/N: This one is a bit more sad. Crowclaw had a little affair with a non-clanner, or more specifically, the she-cat who is Ravenkit's mother. She hounded him until he gave "child support", which was essentially just dumping her kit on him and leaving. Neither of them wants Ravenkit, but Crowclaw learns the error of his ways (especially with Bearclaw and Hawkheart around). /spamwoah

88. Mother Ravenkit asked questions that Crowclaw never wanted to answer. Some of them were innocent, like “What’s a FogClan?” or “Are we allowed to eat that?”
But the others...
“Daddy?”
Crowclaw huffed something before flopping onto his other side, stretching his long limbs to catch more of the sun. “Mmhn.”
“...What was my mother like?”
His ears twitched at the question.
“...Daddy?”
“...She was beautiful and kind, Ravenkit.”
The little tom beamed at him before taking off in a trot for the nursery, his tail held high. Yes, this day was a good one for young Ravenkit.
...Crowclaw shifted, paws slowly curling over his face. Some would think it was to keep the sun from irritating him.
But he did it to hide the shame.

5. Window Ravenkit looked like his father. Short black fur and growing fast, Ravenkit was exactly like his father, save for his eyes. They were blue like any other kit his age, but when Crowclaw looked closely he could see the beginnings of dark green that clearly didn’t come from his side of the family.
They say the eyes are the windows to your soul.
But behind Ravenkit’s windows, Crowclaw only sees a mistake.

10. Nurturing He could never be the father Ravenkit needed. He wasn’t made to love or care. He was only heartless as his clanmates said. You don’t deserve him, they say. He needs someone better, they tell him.
“He already does,” Crowclaw murmurs as he watches Ravenkit play with Bearclaw and Hawkheart, a ball of moss rolling between them. He is happy, purring as he tumbles after it, the two warriors surrounding him in a loving circle. Crowclaw knows it would be wrong to take that away from Ravenkit.
But sometimes he thinks about it anyway.

7. The Tree There’s this tree in the meadow, hanging off the edge of a creek. It’s black and gnarled without leaves. They call it “Ugly”. They the other trees, that is. Those trees grow further away, on the outskirts of the meadow. They have healthy leaves and pretty brown bark with straight trunks. They’re the tallest trees in the territories.
But the sapling doesn’t want to be like them. They’re not nice to Ugly and that makes the sapling sad. Why would the sapling want to be like that?
No, the sapling wants to be something better than them. It wants to be quiet and strong and the other trees aren’t like that.
Yes, the sapling wants to be just like Ugly.

Word Count: 126 Cast: Ravenkit (sapling), Crowclaw (Ugly), and MeadowClan (other trees) A/N: Heavy influences from the cat story "Ugly". (Click HERE to read it!) And I promise this is the last Crowclaw/Ravenkit drabble you'll see (for a bit). I have other kitties to attend to. |D

94. Tension They stared at each other, unblinking. Cold. Refusing to be the first to give.
“You’re not going to win,” Darkpaw said, ears flat.
“I’m not the one who’s squinting,” Crowclaw replied smugly, eyes crinkling at the corners with effort.
They shared a scowl and returned their silent contest, tails whipping back and forth behind them.
Any moment now...
And then a large grey thing bounced between them, bearing it’s fangs in a grin. “Look, I can be an owl, too!”
Stormstream’s eyes went impossibly wide as he stared intently at something ahead of him.
Darkpaw’s face twitched at the disturbance, but his gaze did not waver from Crowclaw’s as he stared over the goofy warrior. No, he refused to give Crowclaw another reason to torment him, even if it was something as trivial as this.
And then there was a sound.
“Whuuuu,” Stormstream breathed out and Darkpaw toppled over, snorting with laughter.
“I win!” Crowclaw cried, blinking. “Hah!”
“Actually, I win,” Stormstream corrected, finally blinking. “Sorry for your loss,” he flashed a furry dimple at the sputtering warrior before prancing away, yelling nonsense about owls and their sexual frustration for each other.
“...Weirdo.”

38. Friend “I don’t understand why daddy doesn’t like you,” Ravenkit went on, craning his head to meet the warrior’s eyes. “You seem nice enough, but then again, daddy has never really liked anyone...” The or me was left unsaid, but the young tom just kept grinning at his new friend.
He was a lot bigger than daddy and daddy was a big enough tom as is. His friend was huge. But he was nice and that’s what counted. Ravenkit didn’t judge on looks. His friend was a good cat and Ravenkit knew he wouldn’t hurt him, despite daddy’s stories. Why would he eat me? Ravenkit wondered.
“But that’s okay. You don’t need daddy to like you, because you have me!” he beamed and Darkstorm smiled down at the kit.
Friends, indeed.

99. I Miss You Daddy had always been irritated by something, as if there was a pesky tick in his side. There really wasn’t a day when he wasn’t grumpy or cruel. Daddy had been a bad cat a lot and not many cats liked him. But daddy had moments. Those little moments when he smiled or laughed. The things others rarely saw, Ravenkit included.
He never thought how important those little moments were until daddy fell asleep. It didn’t cross his mind that he’d never get to see them again until daddy wouldn’t wake up. Now he wishes he could see one more smile, or hear another rich laugh. Now he misses those little moments.
Is he the only one?
