Rules for Scary Stories
First of all, let’s try to keep these under NC-17. I know this is a Halloween contest, but there are some members here who are young. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t let your inner boogeyman out, but let’s try to stay away from, ah, gore and... sexual situations. Not saying that y’all will write it, but it’s a friendly reminder. Of course you can write some blood here and there or a kiss for the hero who saves his crush from a monster. Just be mindful of some of the members. If you’re unsure if your story meets these conditions, then just ask a Staff member. We’ll help you out!
Now, as for the official rule for Scary Stories...
Don’t use characters! (the cats people roleplay with on FoF) That’s for the Drabble Contest. That, and your scary story needs to be at least 350 words.
If you’re a little lost as to what you can do for a scary story, then let me
- A vampire is outside your window, wanting you to invite it in! OHSHI—
- Nobody wants to groom werewolves. Ever. Of course, you just have to be different...
- Finding an eye in your candy bag is just so uncool these days.
LOL my ideas.
Uh, don’t use me as a role model, kids. I’m obviously a bad influence.

Rules for Drabbles
Like the Scary Stories contest, you got to keep this under NC-17. Look after your members, guys! Also, drabbles have to be either 100 words or less. It’s understandable if you go to 200, but remember that this is a drabble contest, which is a 100 word piece. I recommend the online word counter. It’s free, and all you have to do is post your writing in the box and submit it, then you’ll have your word amount!
Most importantly, the Drabble Contest is for characters! You can use your cat, or your friends’, just as long as you’re writing a scary drabble! Now, we all know how terrible I am at ideas, so you can go ahead and

Rules for Poetry
Y’all know what Poetry is, so. However, if you feel like you want to try something a little different, or need a style to follow, I advise looking at this to help you. Of course, you can always do a free verse. I don’t see why not. As for ideas, well. Dark might be the best way to describe it, seeing as it's hard for poetry to be scary. However, I'm sure you get the idea, so carry on
Again under NC-17. Even poetry can sound bloody or raunchy, so watch what you write!

Rules for Prose
Prose: “spoken or written language as in ordinary usage, distinguished from poetry by its lack of a marked metrical structure”. It's pretty much a type of writing that has no real format and does not rhyme. It’s sometimes a bunch of thoughts put together, or an emotion. It can even be one sentence! However, if you’re going to do that, make sure you post at least ten or more pieces of prose (that are one sentence) in one post!
A good example of prose is this: Hate is a thing thrown around easily, too easily...
Thank you, Pyro, for writing such a lovely piece!
One last reminder

WRITTEN BY SLUG.
**edit by Slug: Also, you may do every one of them, and as many as you want. But please, if you're going to do a lot of them for the same contest, have one thread for all of it! Stories are an exception. -shot for edit-
**edit again by Slug: People have been asking if their entries have to be fantasy. So, I'm going to answer that here: your entries do NOT have to be about fiction/fantasy OR Halloween. They can be... a spin off of a true story, or real life things, like insanity or murder. You can even do a multi-chapter piece, though I recommend keeping one thread for that. All in all, they can be about anything as long as they're scary/dark/what have you. Thanks~
