Beliefs StarClan is what brings greatness to the clans. Their guidance keeps the clans in order and their blessings are what light the way for the cats of the forest. They watch over everyone and everything, sending down dreams to warn cats but not interfere—it is a cat’s own choice on how they live their life. Cougarpaw would never ignore a dream from StarClan, should he ever be blessed enough to receive one. To him, StarClan is everything. He can honestly say they keep him sane. Knowing that there is someone up there guiding and watching him and ready to accept him with open arms come his time to join the stars; well that’s peace.
Living in PineClan has made him quiet about his beliefs. He doesn’t mind it so much and has no problem with their disbelief, who is he to say what cats must believe it?

Appearance | Cougarpaw is a very large tom cat. At his age he is probably done growing, but is still exceptionally large for a cat. He’s compiled of long limbs and bulky muscle that fits together nicely. It doesn’t make him look too large in once place and lacking in another. The only place that looks remotely out of proportion is his tail, which, while it is long, is extremely thin for one of his size.
The majority of Cougarpaw’s fur is a creamy off-white. It covers him from head to toe and is only marked by a darker, almost ginger, cream. The darker color covers his face completely, including his ears. It also covers all four paws and a random spot along his back. Over the darker cream are even dark stripes, giving away his tabby genes.
Cougarpaw’s eyes are a bland shade of blue. There’s really nothing special abut the blue, besides maybe the fact that it is blue. The blue is darkest around the pupils and fades to almost white, giving Cougarpaw a look beyond his years. His whiskers are short and white, sticking out like quills.
Personality | Cougarpaw has a sense of honor that may be strange coming from a cat of his age. He’s developed a personal code of conduct which he feels the need to follow for the rest of his life. The biggest point on his code is how he takes a stand on fighting. Cougarpaw, while having the built for it, does not like to fight. He feels violence, especially unnecessary, is a waste of cats’ times. However, if it comes to standing for what he believes in or defending something worth defending, Cougarpaw will unsheathe his claws.
Cougarpaw is a very respectful young tom. He gives his utmost respect and adoration to the ones who run his clan and is especially dedicated to his leader, Gingerstar. He’s always following her every word and ‘doing as she does’. His mentor is another cat that receives the full treatment of Cougarpaw’s respect; he obeys his mentor without a single missing beat.
Formality isn’t lost upon Cougarpaw. His manner of speech is, as one could say, ‘froofy’. Cougarpaw has a thing for slipping in compliments whenever he can, almost to the point where he seems like a suck-up. He’s very formal with every cat, no matter how close to them he may be.
While Cougarpaw enjoys being around other cats, he’s a fairly quiet tom. He’ll hardly talk unless spoken to first. Most of the time his opinions simply match the majority of his clan’s, so they is rarely ever a need for him to present how he feel toward a subject. However, if Cougarpaw feels that PineClan is being threatened due to an bad decision he will be quick to mention this, he’s much too loyal to PineClan to want to see it fall because of a horrible choice.
Skills | Being such a large tom, Cougarpaw has the brute strength to be a formidable foe in battle. However, Cougarpaw will not fight unless it is for something he believes in. Protecting someone else is reason enough to fight to Cougarpaw. Along the lines of Warrior skills, hunting and tracking are not Cougarpaw’s strong points. He can do them when he tries, but even at his best he can never be more than average at the two skills.
Persuading would have to be Cougarpaw’s strongest skill. He’s got a way with words that allow him to change the minds of cats that aren’t determined by their stubbornness. Of course, it goes against his nature to force a cat to change their mind. He would never try if he saw the cat truly believed in what they believed in.
History | Cougarpaw was born a rogue named Willy. He had a sister named Downy who was pretty much his twin, if they weren’t such opposite sizes. They’re parents, Lucy and Dan, were both kittypets who had owners that allowed them outside frequently. The parents were surprised when Lucy became pregnant. They were both fairly young and hadn’t meant to create life.
The two didn’t bring the kits to the attention of their twolegs. They had a feeling that the twolegs would take the kits away, give them to new families. Both parents wanted to raise the kits together and not have them so far away.
Sadly, Lucy’s twoleg kit came out one day to see Lucy with the kits and Dan. The kit squealed before running inside, coming back out with the twolegs who freaked at the sight of the kits. Dan, acting quickly, picked up Willy and shouted orders for his mate to grab Downy. The four cats fled into the woods, not returning to the twoleg place.
Lucy, however, wanted to go back. She loved her kits dearly, yes, but she could not survive so far away from her twolegs. By this point Downy and Willy could walk and talk (they were roughly five moons). Dan tried teaching them how to live in the wild, but, not having much experience, didn’t know much himself. And he wanted to go back with his mate.
It was then the family bumped into the clans. Dan saw it as an opportunity for his kits to continue living in the wild they had been raised in, and a chance for him to get back to his mate. Willy liked the idea immensely and was quick to join the first clan that presented themselves, PineClan. Downy was more cautious about it but soon joined after her brother, leaving Dan to head back home.
Shortly after joining PineClan (Willy being renamed Cougarpaw, Downy Tanpaw) the two were sent out on their first solo hunting mission. Determined to do well the two apprentices wished each other good luck and headed out, Cougarpaw for StreamClan and Tanpaw for FogClan. Cougarpaw returned back to camp before his sister, having done surprisingly well for himself. After taking a short nap Cougarpaw was surprised to see his sister had not yet returned. Explaining where he was going to his mentor, the tom left camp once more to follow his sister’s scent.
He found her under a tree near the FogClan border, bleeding and dying. Before he could run to retch help she told him to stay, all she wanted was to speak with him before she left. Tanpaw explained that she had fallen trying to catch a sparrow before she died, leaving Cougarpaw so horribly alone in the world. He was stunned into not moving, staying along the border until the sun set.
It was not PineClan that found them first, but FogClan. Being so close to the border and blood hanging in the air the patrol rushed over to find the apprentice. Part of the patrol made their way farther into PineClan territory to fetch PineClan warriors while a warrior stayed behind with Cougarpaw, comforting the young tom. She explained to him that his sister was in good paws with StarClan. And in the brief time he spent with that she-cat Cougarpaw felt like something more was calling him.
He learned all he could about StarClan at the point. His beliefs were kept secret, for he knew how PineClan felt about them, but he still believed.
