Appearance |
Rabbitstep is a large cat, not in anyway obese, but just... large, but with a short-haired pelt. Holding him up are long legs, with slightly large paws, each with a thorn-sharp claw at the end of each toe. Keeping him from falling over is his long tail, thin and flexible, perfect for climbing trees.
Basically, Rabbitstep is a light brown tabby, but if you wanted a really good picture, he is a tan cat, with brown, almost back stripes that seems to have just dripped on his pelt, then almost ran off. Breaking the tan color is white, which is located around his eyes and his muzzle, fading into the tan. The edge of his ears are the brown like his stripes, and the tip of his tail is the same color, as if someone dipped it into paint.
His eyes seem to be both a yellow and green, starting as green and fading into yellow as you get further from the center. Sprouting from his muzzle are his whiskers, all of them white and long, aware to almost every touch. His nose, surrounded by a thin black line of fur, is a soft pink, very tomly.
Personality |
Overall, Rabbitstep can be described as a calm and serious cat, very intolerant with mistakes and rule breakers and quick to question something he does not believe in or something that doesn't seem right. Anything less than perfect is completely unacceptable to him.
Rabbitstep's calmness and seriousness is the base of his personality. To him, these are the greatest traits a Warrior could have. After all, calmness helps him fight better and his seriousness towards thing helps get the job done, but to other cats it's just plain boring. Never talking the time to joke around, never having fun, what kind of cat is that to be around? The saying "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." never seemed to be needed more.
Rabbitstep will accept nothing less than perfection. If you do not do something perfectly, he will be than happy to show you the errors you have made. This trait has made him very stubborn, believing what he says is right and you are completely wrong.
Skills |
If you were to ask Rabbitstep, he would tell you he is perfect at everything.
If he were to be honest, you would learn that he is decent at both hunting and fighting, meaning he would be able to fight most cats off and feed himself. His tail, being long and flexible, is perfect for climbing trees, making him an excellent tree climber. His tracking skills are better than most cats, but its not impressive enough for him to be named for it.
His real talent is being able to be as dull as possible, tell you that you are wrong, and be a pain in the tail. Along with that is his bouncy step he seems to have slowly developed.
History |
If you were to tell Rabbitstep's history to a cat that knew him, they wouldn't believe it. After all, how could a serious Warrior have ever been a happy-go-lucky cat?
Kithood
Rabbitstep--Rabbitkit was born the last of his litter in ForestClan in its warm nursery with his two sisters Spottedkit and Mistkit. Growing up, he was nothing but trouble, always trying to sneak outside of camp or underpaw of the other cats. When he was five moons, some of the Warriors thought that he would be useless due to the fact the Warriors thought that his sisters were perfect compared to him--and they never let him forget it either.
"Rabbitkit!"
The angry meow sounded from behind Rabbitkit as he heard pawsteps stomping toward him. "What in the name of StarClan are you doing? Trying to sneak off again?"
Rabbitkit turned around, pointing his muzzle toward the dusty ground. "I was going to go for a walk and..." He trailed off, not daring to look at his father's eyes. Before his father could reply, a soft mew sounded next to him. "Hawkfang, he is only just a kit still. He'll grow out of it, and soon."
He heard a snort from the tabby tom and fading paw steps as the two cats left, walking toward the Warrior's Den. Rabbitkit's yellow-green eyes soon spotted his two sisters playing with a moss ball, tossing it back and forth. As he padded over to them, his sisters stopped tossing the moss ball and watched him, eyes twinkling.
"Get in trouble again, Rabbitkit?" the blue she-cat asked, tail tip twitching.
"What does it matter to you, Mistkit?" he snapped back.
"Maybe if you were half as good as us you wouldn't get in trouble as much,"
Rabbitkit hissed at the she-cat, then stomped into the Nursery, disappearing.

Apprenticeship
Oh, how wrong that she-cat was.
Rabbitkit earned his apprentice name Rabbitpaw with his two sisters, who became Mistpaw and Spottedpaw. His mentor became, unfortunately for Rabbitpaw, Blacktail, a serious, hard working cat who thought goofing off is for kits and kits only. Rabbitpaw, determined to show his sister Mistkit what a great Warrior he was going to be, trained hard like the other apprentices. But old habits die hard, and Rabbitpaw soon found himself getting scolded for goofing off or getting underpaw of other cats by his mentor. Much to the dismay of Rabbitpaw, Blacktail did not feel his was mature enough to become a Warrior when his sisters were ready, and he could only watch as Mistpaw became Miststorm and Spottedpaw become Spottedflower. This caused Rabbitpaw to change.
"Rabbitpaw!"
Blacktail stomped toward his apprentice, the harsh look of disapproval in his yellow eyes. Rabbitpaw huffed, letting the moss ball he had just flicked in the air fall land on the ground.
"Shouldn't you be cleaning the Elder's bedding?" Blacktail asked, grabbing the moss ball with his teeth and throwing it aside.
"Yes." Rabbitpaw sighed, grabbing a mouth fur of moss and padded toward the Elder's Den, Blacktail following him. He tossed the stale moss carelessly away, earning a cuff on the ears from his mentor.
"You'll never be a Warrior if you keep this attitude up."
Warriorhood/Journey
Finally, Rabbitpaw earned his Warrior name, Rabbitstep, and became a full Warrior of his Clan. Although, if you were to ask Spottedflower about when Rabbitpaw became a Warrior, she would tell you that Rabbitpaw never did become a Warrior, but another serious cat did. Rabbitstep went through a entire personality change just so his mentor, Blacktail, would be proud of him.
But if I've said it once I'll say it again: Old habits die hard. When Rabbitstep heard about the journey, he just had to go. A change to go see what lies beyond the borders of ForestClan, who would want to miss that? Besides, Dappledflower was going to go too, and she needed protecting. It wasn't long before they became friends, and with every pawstep they took became closer. Rabbitstep, when they arrived at their new home, stayed into MeadowClan, seeings as he already knew the cats in it, and that Dappledflower was in it too.
Rabbitstep flicked his tail happily. A new home, away from ForestClan, and now he had someone to share it with. A pang of sadness hit him when he remembered that his mother and Miststorm had stayed behind, caring for kits, and that Spottedflower didn't make it through the Journey to see MeadowClan. But at least he could go explore, find new places and--no, no, that would be how a kit would behave, and that was unacceptable. Rabbitstep sighed, letting his attention move to Dappledflower, who looked like she was going to explode from the excitement, then back to Ceaderstar, who was telling the Clan how they were free from their old Clan.
Life in MeadowClan/Deputyhood/Fatherhood
Rabbitstep life in MeadowClan went easily by, with prey plentiful, water abundant, hardly any fights, and he was given a apperntance, Swanpaw, at last. A few patorls with some cats, such as Stormclaw and Palepaw, followed sortly after. Of course, his duties went from hard working warrior to a hard working father as Dappledflower and Rabbitstep had their first kits: Shrewkit, Sootkit, and Fawnkit.
Sadly, all good things must come to a end, and the saying was proven with the death of the Clan's deputy, Bramblefang. Cedarstar, as it is a rule in the Warrior Code, choose a new deputy: Rabbitstep himself.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!
Cats of MeadowClan, listen and I will appoint the new deputy.
I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors, and Bramblefang especially, can hear my choice. The new deputy will be Rabbitstep."
Rabbitstep blinked three times, not believing what his ears had just heard. He was the deputy of MeadowClan? The tabby's mouth dropped open with shock, before quickly closing. Keep your cool! he snapped at himself, closing him mouth and standing on his paws to address the clan. "MeadowClan, and Cedarstar especially, I am honored to hold such a position." Rabbitstep meowed, excitement building inside of him. "I promise I will serve the Clan to the best of my abilities." The tabby tom nodded slightly, as if agreeing with his own words.
