Name | Tawnykit , Tawnypaw, Tawnyheart
Gender | She-cat
Age | 75 moons
Rank | Elder (Former Medicine Cat of Forestclan)
Clan | Meadowclan
Beliefs| Tawnyheart has always believed in Starclan, which is why she was never a notably respected figure back in Forestclan. Even though she was undermined for her beliefs, she stood up for what she believed to be true and continued to uphold the Medicine cat honor. Despite being a believer though, she isn't avidly devoted, at least not now as an elder. There were times were she questioned her sanity as a medicine cat, dreaming of starry cats and depicting their omens and signs. She believes. She will always believe for her eyes have seen the truth. Parents | Blackleg (dame-deceased), Bearclaw (sire-deceased)
Siblings | Fernkit (deceased)
Other Kin |
- Dapplewhisker (Smokeclan)-Half sister (NP-deceased)
- Icetail (Meadowclan) - Half-niece (Played by Kiddo)
Mate | Wasn't allowed at the time, too old now.
Crush | Pfft.
Kits | Forbidden back then, too old now.
Apprentice: Streampelt (deceased)
Appearance |
Fur: Tawnyheart's fur is a mixture of black, orange, cream, and even the smallest hint of white. Her chest is mostly orange, and the rest of her fur sports the lightest of tabby markings, but it basically goes unnoticed.
Size: While not small, Tawnyheart isn't large either. She's in between when it comes to size. She has little to no muscle underneath her pelt from not being as nearly as active as she would like to be.
Eyes: Her eyes resemble the color of both green and amber, mixing together to create a subtle hue. They are still keen and aren't yet showing signs of any blindness.
Other: Tawnyheart's back leg is crippled beyond healing due to a hunting accident back when she was still an apprentice. The foot twists outward and is usually very painful putting any weight on it. Her sense of smell could be better, faded with age, but she isn't hunting for herself anymore, so she easily makes due with it.
Personality |
Tawnyheart is a honorable old she-cat that never tries to do her best, but always just gives the best she possibly can. What might be mistaken for an ego is the simple desire of wanting, of feeling a insistent obligation to do the right thing. And the right thing is seldom the easier thing, but in the end it is always satisfactory to know that she did so. Tawnyheart is extremely traditional in the sense that she upholds and maintains what cats her age might consider the "old way" and what their dames and sires believe, but regardless; it is how she is. She follows and respects tradition, obeys order and ranking, and lives for things such as honor, dignity, and virtue.
Tawnyheart had once been a hot blooded, youthful young apprentice that was full of wild energy and constantly doing something physically exerting. It seems after her accident and her leg that refused to heal, she's developed a new front towards life. Now she is a quiet, humble, and thoughtful elder. She looks at the world differently, closer then she did before. She enjoys listening to others, and giving advice. The advice she give very often comes in an analogy, so that person would have to think about what she said, and usually anything important that she is trying to convey comes out indirectly and will meander for awhile before ever coming to a point.
Despite having her twisted leg and having since retired to the elder's den, Tawnyheart hates it when people have to do things for her. When she had to be helped in feeding her, and now when people try to assist her with things they don't believe she can handle. She will most firmly insist differently, attempt to prove it, and even become quite mouthy and cantankerous. Sometimes she pulls it off, sometimes she just ends up humiliating herself in the end, but that is an aspect of her stubbornness and her refusal in accepting the fact that sometimes she, too needs help. She, however, never has a problem helping others and in fact loves it. She is a gentle soul, willing to listen to any ailment a cat might have, and on her good days, she can enjoy conversation just like any other cat.
When Tawnyheart grows close to someone, she likes to shelter them, and bring them under her wing. She, subconsciously, has a need to cling to those she loves, in order to feel like she is protecting them and is still useful in her aging years. She also feels the need to speak up for those who can't speak up for themselves, thus becoming their "protector", or guide. Starclan knows that she enjoys seeing the awed look upon apprentices and kits when they hear her stories; stories of Starclan, or her life as a medicine cat, or even of Forestclan. In fact, she is an avid storyteller, willing to share her experiences with any kit, apprentice, warrior, or...anybody, really since she considers her clanmates especially close and will often visit queens and their kits to give her blessing. Old habits of a medicine cat die hard.
For the majority of the time her demeanor is quiet, distracted by her pained leg. There is almost a relaxing air about her presence, though. She has wonderfully thick skin and patience, and will sit and grit her teeth as long as she can possibly hold out. And then the absolute last straw might be pulled, and Tawnyheart will loose her temper. When she does, there is another notable air to her; one of strength and intimidation, despite her crippled leg, that calls for attention and demands respect. When push comes to shove, she still will immediately act (if her leg allows) when someone gets hurt. So, even for those felines that do not know her well, can usually sense that she is a respected figure.
Skills |
Tawnyheart was never one for violence or fighting. Her spiritual strength, however, is unbreakable. Although her crippled leg burdens her movement, she can become surprisingly swift when one of her comrades are in trouble. Being a former medicine cat, she knows how to handle herbs and knows where to find them. She can treat ailing cats for sickness and pain, as well as any other illness known to the forest cats. So, even in her old age, she is still quite useful to have around, especially if the current medicine cat is out.
History |
Born to Blackleg, a calico she-cat, and sired by Bearclaw, a gray and white tom, as Tawnykit she also had a brother named Fernkit, but died shortly after due to his increasingly lethargic behavior. Growing up in the nursery, she could barely contain her excitement of becoming a fierce warrior, because in Forestclan, there was no greater thing. Her parent obviously supported her decision on becoming a warrior and raised her well.
At six moons she was apprenticed to Oakclaw as Tawnypaw. He wasn't the nicest mentor around, but he was aging and with that age he became snappy and irritable, especially when Tawnypaw failed in one of her tasks. One day a couple months into her training, Tawnypaw and her mentor went out to hunt. She soon spotted a hare and sprang after it, hoping to outrun it with her long and beautiful strides. She never saw the cliffside, and with a cry, she fell over the side, dropping many feet below. Luckily, she wasn't killed, but the fall saw to it that she never become a warrior. So Tawnypaw was left with two choices; either subside into early retirement, or become a medicine cat. Despite her parents lecture that she shouldn't become a medicine cat, she desperately wanted to accomplish something in her life. The leader was especially angered by her decision and still wanted her to hope that her leg would somehow recover. He was no medicine cat, so he didn't quite grasp the understanding of 'crippled'. She explained to him that she would be a horrible warrior because of her condition and wasn't a very good fighter. She didn't want to be a burden upon her clan. Soon after, she was officially declared a medicine cat's apprentice. Two moons after that Thunderface, the current medicine cat of Forestclan, disappeared, and never was found, dead or alive, nor any real sign of where she went uncovered. Tawnypaw was made the the new Medicine Cat as Tawnyheart. Though many thought she didn't know enough, she took each challenge in stride and became a knowledgeable medicine cat despite living in the constant glare of the leader of Forestclan.
Despite all her hard work, she was often looked down upon, scoffed at, and undermined for her decision and life work. She wasn't one quick to anger, but there were many times where Tawnyheart thought she would explode with anger. Time went by, and her parents passed before her eyes. Time also reminded her of her old injury, which pestered her more and more as she aged. She was very keen to what was starting to become more and more apparent in her clan. There was more gossip, more promises for a new life without the violence her clan was showing. With a lifted spirit, she journeyed to find a land where she would be respected, as well as Starclan's name preserved. When the traveling cats reached the land of milk and honey, clans were divided from the group, but Tawnyheart, the original medicine cat from Forestclan, stayed devotedly by Cedarstar's side. Within three moons, she began growing tired, hindered by her limited movement. When her physical body failed her, she grudgingly accepted her fate and stepped down into the Elder's den, finally at peace with her life.
