Swift pawsteps padded out onto the bank of the river as the water flowed with the land as far as the eye could see. A silver tabby sat by the bank, hazel eyes scanned the water very slowly for the silver shape that would become fresh-kill.
"Just wait for the right moment. . . "
A small paw striked the water, flicking out a fish as quick as a mouse heart-beat. Sharp-teeth grabed the fish as it's stuggle soon faded.
"Got you!" The StreamClan warrior placed the fish with the other two she had caught. She swiped her tounge over her paw, cleaning the water off of it. Jaystripe was feeling quite pround of herself, catching three fish all on he own.
ooc; >.> Bad. Really bad. ):

"Nice technique, I suppose."
Sootclaw slid out of the reeds, his tail winding up toward the sky like a snake as he spoke his teasing words. The handsome black tom was slick in his movements and confidence radiated from him with every smooth step that he took. And he knew that he was graceful and he knew that he was confident-- that's just the way Sootclaw rolled.
He was characteristically quiet as he sat by the bank, where the fish lay that Jaystripe had caught. He was waiting for her reaction to his smug words. Sootclaw was sure she wouldn't take too kindly to them, but that is why he had said them. He disliked boring small talk. If he was to interact at all, he wished it to be interesting.
And then there was the bit of him that didn't want to interact at all and hoped she would just leave. He had come out here to just fish on his own. It had been an unpleasant surprise to find her here, but, being a gentleman, Sootclaw went with it. Even though all he wanted to do was wallow in the bottomless pit of his loneliness as he reflected on his stupidity in clan choice.
His tail flicked back and forth. He was annoyed. Annoyed with life in general. However did he become such an angst-ridden tom? [/size]

"Miststar as Mistfur. And it was OK."
A gray and white she-cat padded along the river bank with swift paw steps. Mistfur, newly named, place one paw in the river carefully matching the pace of the running water. The StreamClan cat waited a tail-length in the water, waiting silently. She watched as a fish swam closer, then when it was close enough, she dipped her paw quickly in the water and out again, catching the fish in her teeth. Mistfur threw it on the bank and held it down with her paw. "I got you!" she mewed triumphantly as she picked it up and went farther into the forest.

ooc; I swear. Every cat my first cat meets is a butt. :P
bic; Jaystripe turned her head as a taunting meow filled her ears. Sootclaw was making his way out of the reeds with his tail curling. The she-cat wasn't expecting anyone to come fish here; after all it was the worst place to catch a fish.
"I do need some work, don't I?" Her reply was completely serious. The sliver tabby looked at her paws as the reply was meowed, tail twitching in nervousness.
"I'll guess I'll just go. . . " Her words trailed off as she tried to pick up the three fish she caught, but before she knew it her right hind paw had slipped and she slid right into the river--letting out a yowl that was loud enough to wake the moon.
Jaystripe quickly crawled out, gasping for breath and spitting out water. The she-cat's hazel eyes looked at the spot were her fish were, and back to the river were the fresh-kill was now floating away.

ooc;; Sootclaw isn't a butt. xD He's just awfully moody right now. And lonely-- so you would think he would want the company. x3
Sootclaw yelped at Jaystripe's yowl and darted forward instinctively as she dipped into the river, her prey going with her. Jaystripe was quick to catch herself; her prey wasn't as lucky. The fish spun down the stream, destined to be food for some other beast. He sighed, shook his head at the loss, then turned back to Jaystripe.
"First off, are you hurt at all?" He asked though he saw no injury-- but to her pride that is. "You don't look it, though my eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be," it was a sad joke, delivered in bitterness. Sootclaw just couldn't pick himself up from this hole he was in.
This time he did not wait for her reply, he just padded back to the side of the river and watched as water rushed past. "I suppose we'll have to catch more then. Can't return empty-pawed. Ah well. What's done is done."

Mistfur stopped and dropped her fish when she heard a yowl from somewhere nearby. She quickly picked it up again and ran toward the sound. "Whats going on?" she asked looking to Jaystripe, then to Sootclaw. Mistfur dropped the fish again and placed her paw on top of it, looking between the two cats confused.
