Dawnpaw was surprised with how many apprentices had magically appeared. It seemed like they were popping out of the nowhere and happily trotting her way. This wasn't something to complain about though. Oh no. She loved company. She gladly welcomed Stripepaw with a nod of her head (though she didn't really know the she-cat and felt uncomfortable around her... maybe it was just a she-cat thing...) and her eyes sparked when Darkpaw commented on her prey. The day was actually starting to shape up nicely.
And then Redpaw came... and everything got better. The fluffy red tom was clearly up to something the moment he snuck his way into the conversation. How about I take you out, Darkpaw?" [/s] Go out? Without a mentor? The idea sounded AMAZING and plus, she wasn't about to miss out on anything! Dawnpaw's instinct were to jump in, and she was never one to question that instinct. So when Darkpaw began to say no... well, she would certainly take Redpaw up on that offer. After all, she could care less about her stupid father and his stupid rules. Sure, she loved the old warrior, but he could chill out every now and then and let her have some real fun. "Well I'm definitely going!" she meowed and hopped up, her tail curling in excitement. It never even registered in her mind that she wasn't invited. "I don't wanna stay in this boring ol' camp and wait for my mentor to get back." She turned to Redpaw now and though one eye was sightless, it was just as intense as the other. "Where are we going?"

Redpaw could not stop his ears from swiveling backwards in disappointment as Darkpaw rejected his offer. He didn't know Skunkflower very well but he'd be mouse-brained if he couldn't see how protective that cat was. It was sad... he had seen that brief flash of excitement run through Darkpaw's eyes... why did his father have to ruin it?
However, though he wouldn't have objected anyway, before he could reply Dawnpaw leapt into the conversation. Her enthusiasm both startled and delighted Redpaw, perhaps he would be able to go out after all.
His face brightened in an instant and a cheeky smile spread across his face in spite of himself. However, he still felt torn. His adventurous spirit was in conflict with his care for Darkpaw. He didn't want to make poor Darkpaw jealous... but he so wanted to go out...
"Hmm..." He mumbled, his smile drooping as Darkpaw's had done, "I want to go out... but..."
He looked at Dawnpaw, "We can't leave Darkpaw behind, can we? It's not fair." He sounded surprisingly sombre, an unusual thing for the hyper apprentice. However, as soon as he mumbled those sensible words, a pang of longing struck him once again. He knew he wouldn't be able to ignore his urge to go out now that he had the chance.
He looked back over and Darkpaw, a begging look in his eyes. His voice and stance changed completely as he whined, "Pleeeaaaseee Darkpaw! Please come! If we get in trouble I'll take the blame! You know I will."

Before Newtpaw could answer Dawnpaw's question, his nose scented the coming of another cat. His ears swiveled as he listened to the new comer approach them, then they flattened at the sight of Stripepaw. Whatever flame of courage he had early was doused by the sight of his sister.
The ginger tom shrank back ever so slightly as yet another apprentice -- Darkpaw -- joined the group that was slowly growing. The black and white tom's whining about his mentor surprised Newtpaw, to him it was an honor even to get an mentor. But to a cat liked Darkpaw, having a mentor was nothing if the mentor didn't do anything.
He closed his eyes, keeping himself steady as the three other apprentices exchanged short words. When Redpaw approach (where were all these apprentices coming from? He thought) Newtpaw reopened his eyes, watching as Redpaw mentioned going out alone with an amused face. His brother's tactics to go out never ceased to bring him some sort of joy. The consistency of the attempts probably was the cause of that.
His tail curled tightly around him as Darkpaw responded, saying he could because of his dad. Newtpaw thought about his own father -- adopted father, at least, -- and realized that the large tom would probably act the same way. If he found his kits gone without a trace, Tigertail would most definitely flip.
They were just apprentices, though. If they tried to leave, they'd probably leave behind a trail strong enough for a blind kit to follow. It seemed none of them had any real training in stealth.
Dawnpaw seemed to want to go, however. Newtpaw felt a tinge of excitement when the she-cat spoke up about her stand on it. Her words seemed to spark Redpaw on even more and prompt the apprentice to persuade Darkpaw even harder. Newtpaw could recognize that glint in his brother's eyes. The tom wanted out, and he wanted out now.
Slowly the ginger apprentice moved over so he was closer to Redpaw, his own way of showing agreement to the idea of going out.

Darkpaw's pelt prickled as Dawnpaw loudly exclaimed her excitement to get out of the Clan. Was she just going to leave him behind to go on an adventure with no remorse at all? Some friend she was. "Thanks for caring about me, Dawnpaw." He hissed loudly, ears splaying out on either side of his head in obvious aggression. Anger bloomed in his chest when he saw Redpaw's excitement. However, as the other tom's tone became soothing, even offering to not go out at all if Darkpaw couldn't go, he seemed calmed. Though when Redpaw started begging and he looked at Dawnpaw's eager face, and then watched Newtpaw side with his brother, his rage fired up again. He felt like a cripple to the group because of his fear of getting in trouble.
After a long silence, Darkpaw finally released his anger. "Fine!" He yowled, his front paws lifting off of the ground and his fur puffing to its full length with the force of it. "Go out and leave me behind! Have an adventure, see if I care! Go on! Go find a fox and fight it off all by yourselves! I hope you fall in a thorn bush." Instead of punctuating his sentence with an equally aggressive exit, the black and white apprentice stood there, glaring at the other apprentices, his dark amber and green eyes daring them to say something.

Dawnpaw's white fur fluffed up when Darkpaw yowled out in fury and she couldn't help but feel like he was stepping all over their paws. Sometimes she didn't get the tom, though she considered him a friend. They were offering to take him out. Redpaw was even offering to take the blame if they were going to get caught! And they weren't going to get caught. They weren't clumsy kits anymore and they were smart enough to be sneaky about it.
But it looked like he was insistent on ruining their fun. Without Darkpaw, would Redpaw seriously just not go? The idea made her want to growl.
"Okay, okay, calm down already. Redpaw just said that we can't leave you behind. And he even said he'd take the blame. Did that part just fly over your ears or something?" Dawnpaw said, her voice calm. She was used to the apprentice's fury and all it did was make her a little impatient. "The worst that will happen is we get caught and we have to hunt for the elders for a couple of days. And sure, your dad might yell at you. But my dad will yell at me too. But if you don't show them you can take care of yourself, then they'll always baby you. This is your chance to show them you're not a stupid kit anymore." Her eyes flashed as she made this point and her desire to go out heightened, as she thought of how her father would react. Unlike Darkpaw, she wanted to get him riled up, wanted him to see that he couldn't take care of her forever.
