Blackwhisker had come right into the camp when her heard Dappledflower mewing into Cedarstar's Den. He had just come from looking for the queen and Mistystream after a daring voyage to Streamclan territory for a fish. A fish that was being craved by Dappledflower.
"Cedarstar? May I speak to you?"
He headed over to the pregnant queen, worried about what was troubling her. There must be something wrong since the cat was trying to find the Clan's leader.
"Dappledflower, is something wrong? Is there any way I could help you?"

"Oh Blackwhisker, dear, you startled me." A soft pink tongue ran down her long, multi-colored fur to smooth the places that had risen in shock. She had been so intent on listening for Cedarstar to respond to her call that Dappledflower had not noticed the black tom cat approach her until Blackwhisker had spoken. The queen gave the warrior a kind glance, as if to say ‘No, I’m fine’ before realizing that Cedarstar probably was out, busy with something else.
“Well… You wouldn’t happen to know how one would go about eating a fish, would you, Blackwhisker?” Her tail flicked toward where the dead catch laid a few foxlengths away. Maybe she would get lucky and Blackwhisker would know how to handle the cold fish. [/blockquote]

Blackwhisker was startled at this question asked by the brash queen. He looked over to the fish Dappledflower had pointed out to him. "Well, I've eaten fish before, so I believe you could say that." He padded over to the fish and examined it. The scales were closely knitted together, so it seemed to be fairly young.
"You see the scales? They're very close to one another. I recommend you do this." Flicking a claw out, Blackwhisker cut a thin scratch near the tail of the fish, and using his claw again, he pulled the thin layer of scales back.
"It's easier to eat this way, though it can be a pain sometimes. Also, fish have very small bones, so be careful," he meowed softly, and with that, Blackwhisker padded off, heading toward the warriors den, and flopping into his small bed.

“Oh!” She couldn’t help the gasp of shock and thanks as Blackwhisker explained how to eat the fish. She watched closely, green eyes taking in each thing the warrior said as he peeled part of the scales away. What luck she must have today, first actually obtaining the fish and then finding someone who seemed so skilled at eating them. “Thank you, Blackwhisker.”
As the warrior retreated Dappledflower followed his instructions, peeling back the rest of the scales and eating the young fish delicately, careful not to swallow and small bones. As she finished it and gave her maw a quick lick, the queen felt her stomach shift uncomfortably. You’d think after eating something she craved, Dappledflower would feel better! Maybe first time fish eaters always felt like this, after all, fish didn’t look all the appealing.
Slowly she made her way to the nursery, wanting to settle down after the day and get some rest. [/size]
