The brown tabby tom's paws thrummed against the forest floor. A light gray squirrel was running for its life, tail streaming out behind it like a fluffy wind sock. Unfortunately, the tail didn't function in the same way, which would've slowed the creature down considerably. Rather, the squirrel just kept running about two tail-lengths ahead of Cedarpaw.
The apprentice, though becoming increasingly peeved at not having the rodent caught between his claws, was silently thanking StarClan that it hadn't found a tree to scramble up for safety. Cedarpaw was not completely inept at scrambling up a tree trunk, but it wasn't exactly his favorite thing to do, either.
Just then, his quarry zipped up the trunk of an oak, peering down at him from a branch once it had gotten settled.
"Foxdung!" he hissed, lashing his tail. "Don't think I'm going to give up, you fluffy little--"
Whatever name he'd given his prey, it was muffled by a grunt as Cedarpaw began clawing his way up the tree.
The squirrel chattered down at him. The apprentice took this as rodent-swearing.
"Yeah, yeah," he snarled. "Same to you, Mr. I-Have-An-Oversized-Dandelion-for-a-Tail." Okay, so Cedarpaw wasn't the best at insulting squirrels. Whoop-de-flipping-do.
This squirrel had attitude. Digging into its oh-so-convenient acorn stash in a hole in the bark to its left, the small animal began pelting (excuse my pun) acorns at Cedarpaw's head.
Poink! went the first one.
"Ow! You're going to pay for that, you lousy little--"
Poinkity-poink! Two acorns in one shot.
"When I get up there--"
Poinkity-poink-poink! This squirrel had mad acorn-chucking skills.
"That is IT!" he yowled, launching himself at The Fluffy Avenger.
The gray rodent gave a startled squeak as if to say, 'My, what sharp, pointy teeth you have!'
As the brown apprentice's teeth sank into the squirrel's neck, he felt the creature go limp. The better to end your annoying existence with, my dear, thought Cedarpaw triumphantly, still perched on the tree branch.

ooc; k. i post now. |D
Crow-whisker sighed. Its times like these that make living worth while. The wind in your face, the grass under your paws, the sounds of the forest: birds, tree swaying in the wind, the yowling of a cat-- Wait, yowling?
The black tom turned his head towards the sound, pricking his ears when he heard a squeak of a squirrel. He sighed, slowly padding toward the source. He stopped near an oak tree, gazing around with his yellow eyes. He could have swore the sound was coming from here, but there wasn't a single sight of a cat or the squirrel. But, there was sent, and Crow-whisker raised his muzzle toward the tree, spying a brown tabby pelt and the now-dead squirrel. The Warrior smiled a bit--would Cedarpaw be able to climb down the tree?
"Having fun up there?" The black cat called, sitting down and curling his tail over his small paws.

Having fun up there?
Cedarpaw was ready to whirl on the furball who said that, hissing. When he saw it was Crow-whisker, though, he made his fur lie flat. His mouth full of squirrel, the brown apprentice flicked his tail in affirmation.
How was he going to get down? The same way he came up? Hm. The small tabby tom began to claw his way backwards down the oak's trunk until he felt the forest floor under his pads again. Setting his catch in front of him, Cedarpaw sat down, looking at the black warrior. "You catch anything?" It wasn't a rude question, just a curious one.

Blackpaw had opened his mouth to call out a greeting to Cedarpaw when he caught sight of the brown tabby tom, but cut himself off from speaking as the other apprentice appeared to be tracking. Or stalking, Blackpaw really couldn’t tell. All he knew is that he did not want to be on the receiving end of any anger if he made his clan mate miss the catch.
But now his mouth was just wide open, catching flies as his mind ran over what he just watched. Had Cedarpaw… that squirrel… trees… The first noise he could make was a strangled snort that soon turned into a bout of laughter. Calming himself down, Blackpaw strode out from his hiding place, tail tip twitching in amusement as he took a seat next to Crow-whisker and gazed up at his fellow apprentice.
”Brilliance, Cedarpaw. The execution was perfect, I dare say I’ve not seen such a catch in moons…” He said as Cedarpaw scrabled down from the tree. His voice took on a ‘high and mighty/sarcastic’ tone. It was obvious he was mocking the brown tom, though it was all in good fun. After all, Cedarpaw had made a catch, even if he did get himself stuck in a tree. A catch was a catch, there was no denying that. [/blockquote]

Crow-whisker flicked his ears when he heard Blackpaw's laughter. He didn't think it was that funny; unless there was something Crow-whisker missed.
Must always miss the good parts. He flicked his tail in a greeting towards Blackpaw who had come strolling from his hiding place and sat beside him, mocking Cedarpaw in the process as Cedarpaw clawed his way down. Were apprentices always this much...trouble?
"You catch anything?"
[/s] Crow-whisker snapped out of his thoughts. Taking a heartbeat to remember what he was doing, he shook his head. "Just came out here to think."Of course, he had other plans, but that was another story for now. [/blockquote] [/size]

Brilliance, Cedarpaw. The execution was perfect, I dare say I’ve not seen such a catch in moons…
All four paws on the forest floor once again, Cedarpaw advanced toward Blackpaw, bristling. "You wanna run that by me one more time?" he challenged.
Just came out here to think.
"Oh. Um... okay." If cats could shrug, Cedarpaw would've. Blinking a few times, the brown tabby trotted over to his catch, burying it near the base the tree he'd just climbed down so that he could get it later.
"Think about what, exactly? I mean, I just wanna know... you seem like something's on your mind," he directed at Crow-whisker.

"You wanna run that by me one more time?"
”Yes,” he said with a faux-smile. ”I was just saying how marvelous that catch of yours was. You sure showed that squirrel who’s boss, eh?” Ah, how fun it was to poke at Cedarpaw. Any cat for that matter. Messing with their heads was just joyful to Blackpaw’s eyes. Of course, he meant it all in good fun. StarClan strike him down if ever he messed with a cat with full intention of ruining the cat. Unless he was doing it for the good of what he held dear.
The apprentice cut off his inner rambling, not wanting to confuse himself. His ears swiveled to listen in on the conversation the other two toms were having, but other than that he gave no sign that he was paying attention to them. Green eyes watched the surrounding forest with feigned interest and Blackpaw wondered if he should continue on and hunt or wait for the other two.
… Hunting was not fun alone.

"Think about what, exactly? I mean, I just wanna know... you seem like something's on your mind,"
Crow-whisker blinked, taking a heartbeat to think of a reply. Thinking wasn't what he was going to do; it was just a quick lie he had thought up of. Quickly thinking of a reply, he flicked his tail. "Nothing important. Just some stuff." He replied, hoping Cedarpaw would drop the subject.
Glancing over to Blackpaw, he saw that the apprentice was gazing out into the forest when an idea hit him. Why not cause some trouble with these two? They would have no idea he planned this, of course, and would be prefect to cause some trouble. Rising to his paws, he smiled. "Let's go to the StreamClan border and look for some prey there, shall we?"

It had been a while since Willowpaw had seen something worth laughing at. But this-- this made up for all those times lost. With a feverish giggle, the tom start gawaffing from his hiding spot in the bushes, trying his best to cease his laughter. However, he knew it was too late. He had shown himself, and that struck a cord in the small tom, fear stopping all his laughter.
His yellow-green eyes almost popped out his skull, they widened so much, slinking just the slightest backward, away from the other cats near the tall oak, afraid that they would punish him for sneaking around. Then he realized something. Something that made him feel incredibly guilty as well as sheepish.
This was his territory, and they his clanmates. He shouldn't be afraid of them, let alone sneaking about the forest like they were his enemies. Shaking the fear from his ruffled silver fur, he slowly pushed his way out of the bushes, blinking at the sunlight that hit his eyes, before turning his head to avoid the eye-burning ray.
"H...h-hello." --
OOC: omg. so rusty. e_e I suckkkk.

"Yes!" Escaped from his mouth before he realized how foolish it sounded. Shouting like that to a suggestion of all things. He wasn't a kit anymore, there was no need to get all hyped up for such a thing like hunting. Even if it was by a border or something, it was still just hunting. Blackpaw's ears pressed down toward his head a little as his green eyes grew sharp and tried to look mature. "That'd be great, Crow-whisker." The unspoken 'thank you, let's go' was barely seen in his facial expression.
The sound of the familiar, stuttering voice alerted him to another presence. Ears lifting again, Blackpaw turned cheerfully to face Willowpaw, glad to see a friendly face. "Heyo Willow-y," he said with a cocky grin, flicking the tip of his tail a million times a second, or so it seemed. A few bounds took him closer to the gray apprentice, so he could speak to the tom without raising his voice too much. "Wanna come hunting with us? Crow-whisker's gonna take us to the StreamClan border, should be lotsa good fun."
