His grey fur looked blanched in the sun as Ashfang padded off with his apprentice, Blackpaw off to the training hollow. He realized that a good warrior should be able to fight in battle. "Then why am I so jumpy when it comes to fighting" he thought silently to himself, while looking around to make sure nothing was going to attack him.
The training hollow slowly fell into Ashfang's view, and looked over to his apprentice.
"Blackpaw, today you are going to show me today all of what you've learned. If you do well, I might see if Owlstar will let you go to the gathering," Ashfang stated, though he was a little jumpy. He hated even practicing fighting with his apprentice.

Blackpaw nodded quickly, getting into position in front of his gray mentor with a light smirk on his face. His whiskers twitched as he considered what moves he could use on the larger tom, eventually decided on his favorite one. He crouched slowly, determined to prove himself this time. He wanted to go to the next gathering and he was not going to let this chance slip away.
In the blink of an eye Blackpaw shot off the ground, green eyes focusing on his mentor's left side, even if his paws aimed for the right side. An old trick he picked up to confuse the enemy. His claws were sheathed of course, this was only practice. But that didn't dull the fierce look of determination in his green eyes. [/size]

Ashfang jumped a little when his apprentice shot at him. He shook his head then leaned to the left to dodge Blackpaw's attack. But Blackpaw had swerved, and his paws landed on Ashfang's left flank.
"Uhhh, that was a good maneuver Blackpaw. I-I'm going to come at you now."
Ashfang charged ahead, placing himself to land a blow to the apprentice's ear, but at the same time keeping his fore paws outward as though he was going to swerve to land a blow to Blackpaw's left flank."I hope this works,"

"Uhhh, that was a good maneuver Blackpaw. I-I'm going to come at you now."
The apprentice let out a purr when his mentor spoke, a mixture of pride from being complimented and amusement at Ashfang's stutter. In his amusement, Blackpaw almost didn't realize that his mentor had already launched at him.
Left flank? He thought, trying to make up for his lost time. Without even bothering to consider that Ashfang could be faking him out, Blackpaw dropped to the ground, ready to jump up when Ashfang got too close to his side.

Ashfang swerved with Blackpaw flicking his left fore paw out and striking the apprentice's ears with sheathed claws. As soon as Ashwhisker had stricken Blackpaw, he backed off, and meowed while shaking a little,"Uhhh Blackpaw, you did what every cat would do. Just try to think a little more. Umm, read the enemy cat's body completely, and uhhh then strike when you know for sure what would be coming at you."
Ashfang was still pleased, his apprentice had moved along with the attack just like Ashfang wanted to. But even better, Ashfang had done something totally new, he had created a new fighting move. "It could be well used in Fogclan,"he thought silently.
But now Ashfang had another thing in mind for Blackpaw. "Ok, Blackpaw. Uhmm, try to uhhh pin me down."

Blackpaw scowled at his mentor. How was he supposed to know the gray warrior was going to go for his ears and not his left flank? It was a crap strategy too. What would getting an enemies ears do in the middle of battle? Going for the flank had a better chance of doing a lot of damage that could win the fight for you. Unless Ashfang planned on making cats go deaf, the move was pointless.
"Ok, Blackpaw. Uhmm, try to uhhh pin me down."
”Gladly,” he grumbled, leaning back into the ground and locking his green eyes on Ashfang’s front paws. Faster then one could say ‘mouse’ Blackpaw had leaped, front paws aimed straight for his mentor’s chest. [/blockquote]
