Beliefs
As a member of PineClan, Bluestream does not believe in StarClan. She never has, she never will, and unless one of those shiny cats comes right up to her and shows themselves, they're just a bunch of mousedung to her. She's respectful of other cat's beliefs though. It's unlike Bluestream to participate in the taunting or mocking her clan normally does.
Now, what she does believe in is unity. Together we stand, united we thrive, she'll say. A clan may be a clan under the word of the Warrior Code. But they are not a clan in her eyes until they show the strength that binds kin together. A clan is not made of lone cats after all. A true sense of unity must be presented to her. PineClan presents that.

Appearance |
Bluestream is a lovely she-cat. Her body is thin and lithe with long limbs and tight features. The most stunning feature? Her tail of course. It's such a lovely texture, the fur coming off in wisps that blow in even the slightest wind. The suffix -stream was easily appropriate as it matched the grace and agility she possesses in tune with her long features. At first glance, many think her head to be small. But it is really just her ears being too large, and creating a shrinking effect on her head.
Bluestream is covered in a soft type of fur. It's rather wispy, even looking unkept at times. But should she ever neglect her fur, may lighting strike her down. The fur is a soft gray- yes, a color can look soft- and is extremely easy to tell her apart from other cats, simply because her fur a the same color every where. The gray never changes shades. Though, where her fur is not as thick, it does look to be lighter.
Her whiskers are rarely seen. As they are pretty much the same color as her fur, the blend in well. When they are seen, one can tell that Bluestream is a wonderful tracker. The whiskers are long and drooping, which makes them sensitive. Her eyes are set nicely on her head. They are wide, surrounding by a ring of black, the only time her fur is a different color. The irises are a soothing blue-green with wide, gazing pupils.
Personality |
Bluestream is normally describe as considerate. It's not hard to see she cares deeply for her clan. Every cat in the clan is her weak spot and her strengthening point. They keep her going now. Since she was separated from her family, Bluestream quickly adopted PineClan as her brothers and sisters.
While it may be easy to see that Bluestream cares a lot, her actually expressing it is rare. She normally puts up a generic mask. One of your normal medicine cat. Calm, accepting, caring, understanding, etc. Of course Bluestream is actually like this when treating a cat. She wants to make sure the cat gets healed as fast as possible, which means being calm and collected.
When Bluestream doesn't have the mask up, normally around the other medicine cats or close friends, she's a little snappy. She has a temper, oh yes, and controlling it has never been easy without her mask. But what's a cat without a temper? Normally she'll be aggravated by serious things. Her apprentice refusing to work, a warrior thinking they're all that, or even a leader being a stupid furball. Little things rarely bother her.
So she's tolerant. It comes with being naturally accepting. The two traits make it hard for her to really dislike another cat unless they do something against her clan. She may be a medicine cat, but she would not mind fighting to the death for PineClan.
At times Bluestream can be a narcissist. Her looks have naturally given her a big head and she takes pride in keeping herself presentable to the clan. Rarely would she put herself first, but if she was given the absolute chance to and not suffer any real consequences, you can bet Bluestream would care more about her fur than another cat.
Bluestream respects the other cats in her clan. But not one more than another. Gingerstar gains a little more respect from Bluestream (them both being feminist, Bluestream not as extreme). Bluestream absolutely loves how Gingerstar runs the clan so well without help from a tom. But every other cat is equal in respect to her eyes.
When Bluestream speaks with another cat she's patient. She'll sit there and talk for hours if the cat is willing to sit and listen back. But if the cat is one of the more active cats and can't help but interrupt, she'll sit there and let the cat say what they need to before continuing. She's not the loudest cat and not the quietest, but somewhere in between.
Her opinions matter to her. Bluestream is strong in her beliefs no matter what they are. She'll rarely change her mind unless someone goes to great lengths to change it for her. On little things that Bluestream doesn't actually care about, she tends to pick the side that is obviously wrong or losing, just for fun.
Skills |
Bluestream's greatest skill would be her ability to see both sides of an argument, analyze them, and purposely chose the wrong choice. Making sure that she sides with the seemingly losing side seems to be a knack of hers. Now of course, if the other side is the side actually cares about, she'll jump that boat. But when it comes to petty sides, she doesn't care and picks the "wrong" one.
She's also a skilled tracker and hunter, coming from living alone all her life. Fighting never seemed important to her, she can't figure out why. Bluestream can keep a good defense up and protect herself. But she'll never be able to bring a strong offense to the field.
Now her skills as a medicine cat are what she takes obvious pride in. Unlike the other medicine cats who sometimes seem unsure of their abilities, Bluestream knows she's a good one. She knows all the herbs and how to use them. She can easily calm a cat down or get an apprentice to stop complaining about helping her. It's not like this is natural, though. Bluestream worked hard to get the skills she has as a medicine cat. And she's not above learning new ones, either.
History |
Bluestream was born into the life of a kittypet. She was the only cat in her litter, and for that her mother was glad. Bluestream, named Salsa at the time, was like any other kit- active, curious, trouble-making, and loud. She would always get on her parent's (or even worse, her brother's) nerves.
Salsa's parents were both kittypets who lived far away from where the clans are now, not in the twoleg place close by the current clans. She was strictly an indoor cat, never even liking the idea of going into the wild. Her brother (from another litter), Wannabago was a partially-outdoor cat and would always try to have his sister join him. She always refused.
One night their twolegs had left his smoking stick burning in his work room. The papers in the room quickly caught on fire, spreading to the whole house. The four cats (Salamander, Dredd, Salsa, and Wannabago) made it out easily through Wannabago's catdoor.
The family never knew if their twolegs made it.
For almost a moon they traveled, looking for a new home with twolegs that would suit them. Wannabago was much too excited about the wild, though. He said he would continue with them, but not join them in living with new twolegs. Finally they found a new home, Salsa almost 12 moons at the time, her brother bordering on 20. The twolegs there eagerly took in the family, but wondered why the strong-looking tom did not accepted their invitation for a home.
For three moons Salsa lived happily with her family again. Wannabago stayed close to them while remaining an outdoor cat. Occasionally Salsa would drop her indoor ways to chat with him, slowly making friends with the other cats in the neighborhood. When she reached 16 moons, Salsa began to feel an urge, no, a need to be outside. To spend more time under the open sky with her fellow felines. So slowly she became an outdoor cat.
At 18 moons she fled with her brother and another tom, running from the twoleg place into the true wild.
For three moons the pack traveled, enjoying their free lives sometime during this traveling, Salsa realized her skill with herbs. After her brother had gotten a rat bite, it was not hard for Salsa to find the correct root to use and stop the infection. Wannabago was not kept down for long, thanks to his sister.
As three moons almost passed, the group stumbled upon the forming clans. Wannabago, of course, felt it would be too much like being a kittypet, and refused their offer. His friend refused as well. But Salsa, who still retained some urge to be with many cats, liked the idea. After a fierce, but brief, argument, the group split, and Salsa stayed with the clans.
Now of course, she would not drop her refusal to believe in StarClan. So when PineClan was being formed, she latched onto the chance to be one of them. Remembering how she had taken to herbs so easily on her journey, Salsa, then named Bluestream, took to the thought of learning how to use those skills for her new clan.
As the cats from ForestClan began to teach prospective Medicine Cats, Bluestream made sure she was the best of the best and got herself noticed. It was no surprise (to her at least) when she was picked to be PineClan's medicine cat (at least, one of them. She understood perfectly that her clan could take more than one).
Role Play Example |
As the early morning light began to illuminate the camp, bringing detail to the dark corners. Pale shades of orange and red covered the far horizon as the sun climb higher in the sky. Already the clan was getting up, the dawn patrol heading out as the moon-high one returned.
From the back den of camp faint rustling could be heard. Moments later a slim, light gray she-cat slid out of the shadows, the dew on her fur making it look silver in the faint light. Her blue-green eyes glimmered slightly, watching as the clan prepared for another day in the way of a warrior.
She stepped back slowly, making room for two young kits who tussled nearby. The larger one had his sister pinned down, boasting in the way that kits do. But with a short growl, his sister turned the tables, pinning the tom down easily. The two fought for a minute longer, Bluestream keeping an eye on the excited cats.
"Whitekit!" The tom yowled suddenly, leaping off his sister as she crumpled on the ground. The small white kit lay hunched over her stomach, mewling softly for her mother.
"Step back Swiftkit," Bluestream said firmly, pushing the black and white tom away from his sister. With a quick motion, the medicine cat had the she-cat in the sunlight so she could see her better. A few sniffs told her that the kit was not going to be sick any time soon.
The kit suddenly opened her eyes, winking one slowly as she faked another shiver. "What's wrong with Whitekit?" Her brother pestered, trying to see his sister.
"She's not going to make it, I'm afraid." Bowing her head, Bluestream stepped back as she played along with the kit's game.
"No!" Swiftkit hurried over to his sister, burying his nose into her white fur as the she-kit went limp. A few moments passed, warriors looking over to see what the fuss was about. "Whitekit..."
"Gotcha!" Without warning, the small she-kit barreled upward, knocking into her brother and pinning him down easily. As the two began to bicker over who really won that fight, Bluestream padded off, shaking her head slightly at the foolishness of the kits.[/blockquote]
