Astonishing, Rolo is putting art up? Who thought they'd see the day when that happened?
Believe it or not, I was once quite the avid drawer and I had a definite passion for putting a pencil to paper. In fact, once my dream job was to animate or draw for a living XD Times have changed a lot since then... and I now very rarely draw anything, and it's even rarer when I've drawn something I'm proud enough to put up.
Therefore, I'll be frank, this thread won't be updated very often. In fact, knowing how quickly my patience for drawing can come and go, it might never get updated again XD But I digress.
My strengths in drawing has always been realistic shaded images of still art or (most commonly) animals. I used to dabble in the realm of Disney drawings (particularly the lion king and Lilo and Stitch for about a year obsessively) but my skill in anatomy and anything other than realistically styled stuff is pretty non-existant. For some reason, I decided I wanted to draw FoF cats in a cartoon style, and so have been trying to teach myself to draw cats.
None of these are particularly amazing, admittedly. However, most of these are just testing out style and trying to grasp anatomy XD Also, I'm not kidding when I say there are months between the drawings here XD
For the sake of things, I'll go chronologically.
Firepaw, Finchpaw, Mistpelt... disembodied Mistpelt
I drew these months ago. I forget when. Mistpelt came first... I was utterly unsatisfied with her, so I drew her head again. For some reason, I didn't give her a body XD. I liked Finchpaw on here... Firepaw, I remember, I drew at like... 1am. Possibly why he looks... odd . At this point, I was more concerned about design... so expressions sorely lacking.
Doodle, poses and Frostpaw
The heads came first Yes, more disembodied heads. I was trying to draw Frostpaw... which I have tried to do at least 6 times now, in the various different drawing styles I've tried out... strangely, she's always managed to stay practically identical. No matter what I do, she refuses to be designed any other way. Ok, Frostpaw, I get the message, you want to stay like that. But yes, we have a frowning, typically grumpy looking Frostpaw and a cheerful one... even though I know I won't be drawing her that way for a while.
Next came the poses. Like I said, I have poor anatomy skills, so I spent a time trying to simplify poses performed by cats from pictures on teh internetz. My favourite one is the 'Mew?' doodle in the corner, who turned out so strangely adorable I'm going to colour that one soon XD
Rowanheart's head, Finchpaw and Frostpaw
Shockingly, here's some proper cats with actual bodies. Frostpaw, who is displaying her apt 'I think you're an idiot' face, was relatively simple, and I like her XD Finchpaw, who is cowering in his father's presence, however, was not. He refused to look remotely like my previous design =/. Ah well, at least the pose is decent. We also have an ominous floating, angry Rowanheart... coz I felt like making him angry. I dislike him immensely... but since I'd already told Whisk I'd draw him, I decided to keep him in anyway. He will be changed, and will be given a body. He was originally meant to be hanging over Finchpaw in a menacing fashion, but... lawls, didn't work.
Lastly, here's some of my more usual fare. Very accurate, actually, because I used to be famous within my school for sketching tigers when I was like 12 . 'Tiger in water' has an accurate name, and it's a pencil sketch. The outline was done... probably about 4 months ago now, the base of the face was coloured 3 months ago and the rest was coloured... last night. The water was hell, but it came out ok somehow XD
But anyway, enjoy ;P
Tiger in Water
And that concludes this artfilled post. Will you ever see another? Who knows ;P Hope you enjoyed it nevertheless.
