We had two cars full. I was in the first car, in the back, with Dave and 'Manda, looking out for cops behind us. We were late to meet our group that was already there.
We got there at 9:50 am, a time everyone that was coming was already there. Our second car was made go else where in a parking lot farther away from the place this was taking place at.
Matt, Eric, and Shannon were the small group we were meeting, and thankfully they saved us front row seats even if we did bring chairs.
The rest of our little party (Jaimie, Heather, Hannah, and Martin) came in ten minutes later.
Before it started, we grabbed the chairs out of Eric's (he was the first car's driver) truck, and jumped in in front with all the other Tea Partiers.
Everything started off with the "large" crowd yelling. The speaker brought up MSNBC, which the crowd yelled out "FUCK MSNBC", because, apparently, they wanted to fuck MSNBC. Maybe Freud has something to say about that. The speaker then brought up Fox News, which everyone cheered for. Our little group of 11 or 12 screamed "FUCK FOX", cause we want to fuck Fox.
They brought in a local preacher and we all prayed for God to give "us" everything, and then a chick country singer came on for us to stand up and sing the song of our flag. Except, we didn't stand, we didn't sing. It was "against our religion to worship false idols". I think we were going Christian. We then all sat down, and George Washington came in ridding on a horse. What?
He gave a speech on how we need to create a revolution again. Against our government. Wait. Is he going against what he said in his Farewell Address? Didn't he say not to choose political parties for it would drive this country a part? What is he doing at a Republican rally? What am I doing at a Republican rally? He contradicted what he said in his Farewell Address and none of his says was how the will Washington thought. And what was this about him being the best general in America history? American historians have said he was the worst.
After George Washington left, an older guy came up. We all stood to pledge allegiance to the flag, which what my group did not. I couldn't find 'Manda. She was right besid... I heard arguing coming from where we came in. I heard a Georgia accent, Texan accent, and one from I think somewhere up north. Guess which one 'Manda was?
I gathered everyone up and we went outside with our chairs to see what the fuck was happening. An older woman (Georgia accent) saw 'Manda's shirt and accused her of being a commie for supporting our president. Jaimie and Dave ran off to throw the chairs in the truck, and came quickly back. By the time they came back, it was a full out argument (of contradictions.)
The Northern came up and started to call /us/ commies for being card carrying Democrat Socialists. The woman laughed and so did others around her. An Australian woman was next to us with a notepad and recorder. She wrote for the Temple paper.
The Georgia woman let off, but the Northern man kept on. He talked about how they were socialists in Russia when they were not. I asked him what the definition of "socialism" was and he said "where everything is owned by the government". That's communism plz. 'Manda quickly told him that wasn't the def. His reply? "So what?" That was his whole argument. The Aussie gave him the def. of socialism, which he replied with "so what?". That pissed me off.
We said that it was different than communism. What he say "they're the same! It's like comparing day and night!"
"Exactly!" Dave and Jaimie cried.
"May I come and interview you?" The Australian lady asked us, and we walked off.
The man followed us, harassing. It was like a little gnat following us repeating "so what?".
We went to Eric's truck and 4 of us (plus the columnist) jumped in. The man was there the whole time screaming profanities and what not. Calling us commies. According to Annie, Hannah, and Jaimie, when Jaimie told him to "shut the fuck up and leave us alone before I call the cops and file a harassment report", he then said "why don't you, you 16 year old pot smoking dyke?"
I jumped out of the truck a minute later, and Annie told me what he said.
"You know what? I'm going to find that cop in there and get him to arrest your ass."
"Go ahead, you fagot."
I did what I said. Momma raise no liar. I found the cop, and told him of our situation and about how he wont stop harassing us. When we go here, I was told the man left when he saw me go inside the building. The Australian woman followed, hoping to interview him. I gave the cop a description of the man, and we drove off with the rest of the groups of people already leaving. This was an hour in of the whole thing.
I find them truly childish. They say they believe in freedom of speech, but they only believe in it if the other person believes in what they do too. They could of handled the situation better instead of calling bullshit and "so what" at our side of the argument. I have no idea what 'Manda was out there doing, but I rather not ask. For all I know, she started the argument. Or she probably went out there to have a smoke.
We all came there to voice our opinions and tell the other side of the whole thing. They are also very closed minded and apparently not every educated on the subject which they protest against. But, I respect their opinion, even if their opinion is the same as some fucked in the mind news caster.
Also, I can see how he got that idea of Jaimie. She was wearing loose fitting clothing, my hat, and does act kinda manly. We don't have a lot of estrogen in this family...
Also, according to Jaimie, she told the man "I respect your opinion. NO, YOU LISTEN TO ME FOR FIVE SECONDS. Even if you do not. We were only here to shine a little light on... AY, YOU GOT SOMETHING ELSE TO SAY BESIDE 'SO WHAT'? our side of the thing. Oh ha ha, you're so literal, you~ Counting off the seconds to then say that I lied like the commie I am. Where was I? Oh yeah. You shut up, I shut up. I respect, you respect. Jesus was a socialist. Look up 'socialism' up in the dictionary and Jesus will be there. You snort, yes, like the IQ of 70 man you are. Hmm? What am I doing? I'm typing all this stuff down in a note. Texting the cops my ass. I do not think we can do that. Now, make like Red Shirt and beam out of here."
I give these gatherings a 1.5 out of 10. 1 for gathering skills, .4 for insulting my great great grandpa, and .1 cause I pity the fool. They also get a 7 of 10 on the dick scale. I would never attend a Tea Party again after September 13th in Waco. I think 5pm.
