No I am not starting this thread to find out about your servers or anything, as I have pretty much given up on the game. Just for clarification so you don't rush off to tell me what server I can find you on.
The reason I started this thread is just to talk about the game, if you happen to know what it is. I will not tell you if you don't know, as I do not wish to ruin your life and make you a shut-in/loner/nerd/however you would classify a WoWy. If you play or have played the game and quit for whatever reason, talk to me. My opinion? Well, in short, I think it's a waste of time and only causes grief and anger. And technology breakage. Sure it's a good way to interact with people, but is it really worth busting your keyboard because a murloc kills you? And some of the people I've met on that game are so flippin' rude, no matter how nice you are to them.
And that's why I quit the game. Well, sort of. I only play it if there is absolutely nothing else to do. Anyway, what's your opinion? If you quit, feel free to share why.
I repeat, this is not to share your character/server information. For some reason whenever I start a WoW thread people automatically tell me their server.

Funny you put that disclaimer in there, I was actually gonna give a lil background info on my experience, but I'll refrain as you asked ;P. I played for four years hardcorely, stole my life. Quit for totally different reasons, in brief:
IT STOLE MY LIFE, it stole my money, it made me never do work.
I had crap grades because of playing so often (I had over a year and 3/4 played time. that's sitting at the pc for a year and 3/4 straight, without sleep, if done all at once). I was quite antisocial "had to get home to raid" all the time, the only people I eventually ended up hanging out with were my other real-life wow buddies. My money as I had to pay for it, I got name changes, appearance changes, server transfers etc. all the time, with several characters.
The people? I miss them the most. The ones I knew were absolutely dear to my heart - friendly, welcoming, so lovely. Seriously adored them. But the other stuff was just all too pressing and I stopped playing and sold my account for an impressive £600 (about $1200 at the time). My grades have improved (though not much), I spend my money still but on things like clothes, I'm more social and my friend base has massively improved.
Still, miss the game loads and intend to play again once my major exams are over in July. Total addict, I play on my brother's account every now and then, levelled a druid to a ridiculous level on his in my spare time throughout the last 5 months. I think it was 5 months ago I quit anyway - it seems like way longer e.e;
My opinion of the game as a generalization? It'll sap your life, make you addicted, make you poor and be your new obsession. Don't start if you haven't already and try to ignore friends that advise otherwise. It has, however, given me such joy in my relationship with WoW, but also many arguments and sadness, I've cried many times over petty things and felt utterly depressed. My highs do outweigh my lows, but I prefer to remember the good times anyday. Still keep in contact with lots of people I met over my years on WoW, one person was in fact my loving boyfriend for a year and a 1/2 before he moved away, we still talk.
Though you may not be interested in other people's character info, Wild, mind if I inquire after yours? I'm somewhat intrigued, as I know pre-endgame levelling etc. can be a harsh and ultimately sucky experience, so I might advise that unless you've played endgame yet, that you strive toward it to see what the game is really like (:

I also used to play hardcore, last year you couldn't get me off the game. I would play until my mom got home, and then she would play XD As for money, well, WoW is also a ripoff. You go through so much trouble to do the simplest things, and you still have to pay almost $50 every other month to play. They always put the game in freaking maintenance, and then make another expansion when they haven't even fixed the old problems, and then there are even MORE problems with the dam game!
Since you asked, I played on Bronzebeard, although I did try some other servers, but for some reason Bronzebeard was the only one I could stick with. The highest level I got to is 61, but that was on a death knight. Being at a high level bored the hell out of me. Usually I level a character up to 20, get bored, delete it, and start another. The only character I have actually leveled that isn't a death knight is my main character that I got up to level 43 I think. I just gave up on it. I can't sit through more than half an hour of play anymore, I just get so bored.
This is another reason not to play WoW.
