books, movies, tv shows, stories in general...
What do you like? What types of characters? What sort of villains? What plot points? Do you prefer fight scenes or dialogue?
What do you dislike? The Good Guys Are Good-Looking cliche? The Damsel in Distress cliche? The Evil Monologue cliche? Predictability? Unpredictability?
And I'm not just trying to generate discussion for the sake of discussion here. I'm interested in what people have to say.

What do you like?
What types of characters?
I prefer characters with personality quirks. I absolutely HATE it when the main character is an invincible knight in shining armour with no weaknesses, and always acts perfectly noble to everyone else. *cough*firestar*cough*
What sort of villains?
The types that the reader think are good to begin with, but turn evil at a later point for a nice stroke of unpredictability.
What plot points?
Something bad actually happening, magic items, betrayal....
Do you prefer fight scenes or dialogue?
I like a bit of both really.
What do you dislike?
The Good Guys Are Good-Looking cliche?
yes
The Damsel in Distress cliche?
no. I don't mind this one.
The Evil Monologue cliche?
yes.
Predictability? Unpredictability?
If a story is predictable it very rapidly becomes boring.

What do you like?
What types of characters? I like characters whom aren't perfect, and follow day-to-day problems as we do.
What sort of villains? The sort who weren't expected to be, intricate schemers.
What plot points? Secrets, and betrayal.
Do you prefer fight scenes or dialogue? It depends on how it's written and the situation.
What do you dislike?
The Good Guys Are Good-Looking cliche? Depends. Sometimes I can't help but like it. (:
The Damsel in Distress cliche? Yes.
The Evil Monologue cliche? Mmhm.
Predictability? Unpredictability? Unpredictable makes a story, something to follow.

What do you like?
What types of characters? I really like any kind of character that is written or played well. Not too fond of whiney characters, but they can make a story funny. It really depends. What sort of villains? Mmm... Same as above really. My fave kind of villains are either the obssessively religious moral-type ones (because, it isn't really what you generally see as evil.) or the reformed good-guy type. What plot points? Any, really. Do you prefer fight scenes or dialogue? A mix, definately. Too many fight scenes or too much dialogue can both make a book boring for me.
What do you dislike?
The Good Guys Are Good-Looking cliche? Not always... If played in a comic relief fashion, I think it's quite amusing. The Damsel in Distress cliche? See above? The Evil Monologue cliche? NO! Evil monologues are totes the best kind. Predictability? Unpredictability? I like both xD Depends. I prefer humour when it comes to predictability though.

"My fave kind of villains are either the obssessively religious moral-type ones (because, it isn't really what you generally see as evil.)" -- You're kidding, right? I see follow-the-rules people and religious people being demonized all over the place. Gets on my nerves.
