Beliefs |
To most cats, Icethroat has the right to hate StarClan for what they did to her and what they let happen to her. However, she doesn't hold the slightest bit of contempt for them. Really the only thing that she blames for what has happened to her is her mother. Icethroat would never turn her back on StarClan. She believes that despite what has happened to her in her short life, StarClan really does have big plans for her and will set her on a different path than what clan cats usually go through. Deep down, Icethroat feels that she is destined for something great and that StarClan will guide her there.

Appearance |
Icethroat is a reather bedraggled character, despite still being very young. She refuses to admit that she needs help taking care of herself, wanting to be independent and not have to ask for help. Her long white fur is almost constantly ruffled and coarse with dirt and grime. It is also extremely likely that there are mats in her tail and hind legs because she has so much difficulty reaching that far. She is an average size, though still growing. She is not too tall or short or even too lithe or thick. However, she is skinny in an underweight fashion. This is another result of her insisting that she is independent and does not need to rely on others to take care of her, even though she realistically really does need it.
The reason she needs all of this help is a series of things that happened to her both before and after she was born. She was born blind in her left eye, which is a pupiless pale blue color where the right is a bright amber, and deaf in her left ear. This would have hindered her in her training, but it was what happened to her as a young kit that put her in the elder's den before even being an apprentice. Her mother accidentally dropped Icethroat from a rather tall height, causing brain damage to the point where her brain cannot communicate with her back legs efficiently and she cannot walk properly without stumbling and falling over.
Icethroat could, realistically, be a beautiful cat. She has a nice form, when lying or sitting still and if she allowed help from other cats to groom her fur, she could really be pretty. However, her intelligent and handsome face has turned hard and she almost always has either no expression on it or a scowl. Her bitterness has overwhelmed her insides to the point that it's starting to show outside, also.
Personality |
Icethroat is a horribly bitter and angry cat. She doesn't think that she deserved the hand that was dealt her, and mostly feels the bitterness and anger toward her mother. Had it not been for her, she would have at least had a chance to be an apprentice and warrior. But with her mother being irresponsible and dropping her, she shattered any chance that Icethroat had at doing something great. She feels like everyone sees her as a useless cat that is only just a burden upon the Clan.
These feelings have made her seek and grasp at her independence more than other cats her age and with her range of disabilities. She refuses any and all help that is offered to her to the point that she demands apprentices bring her fully alive prey so she has a chance to hunt and "catch it" herself. She doesn't allow herself to be groomed by anyone else, insisting she's capable, when she really isn't. She also doesn't allow anyone to escort her around camp, even though it takes her much longer than a normal cat to walk across camp or anything of that source. Icethroat forces her independence on herself because she doesn't want to seem useless. She wants to look capable to her Clan in the hope that maybe she can prove herself that she can do greater things than just lounging in the Elder's den all day, waiting for food to be brought to her, for her bedding to be changed, and waiting for the apprentices to groom her, when she knows that they don't want to do that in the first place.
Icethroat always refuses help and can become extremely volatile about it toward any cat that offers the help. What she ultimately wants is to come off as "that one horrible cat" that no one wants to be around so she will be finally left alone and be allowed to have to rely on only herself (though she is completely blind to the fact that she will never be able to be completely independent). She almost seems to throw herself into tasks that are exremely difficult for her without a second thought and without any fear of the outcome. However, the biggest fear and driving force and fire under her butt for her to prove herself is her fear of Miststar. She trusted Owlstar to help take care of her as a kit and young cat, but ever since Owlstar was driven out of the Clan, Icethroat feels that she could be tossed out also at any time that Miststar feels she's not pulling her weight like other cats her age are doing. She wanted to follow the cats that went with Owlstar, but her family held her back.
Skills |
Icethroat has little to no physical skills. Being half blind and deaf, she does not know when a cat is approaching from that side. Also because of her brain damage, she cannot use her hind legs adequately to even walk, let alone fight and defend herself or hunt. The only skill that you can say Icethroat has is her independence, or at least the independence that she thinks that she has. In reality, she is completely dependent upon her Clan to provide for her and protect her, no matter how much she fights against it.
History |
Icethroat and her siblings were actually born early on in the journey between ForestClan and the new Clans. Her parents, and a few other cats, seceded from ForestClan a bit later than the main group of cats that originally left. When Doveflower had her litter on the journey, she only allowed it to slow the group down slightly. The other cats were willing to help carry the litter, but it was one slip of paws that affected Icethroat's life. While walking along a precipice of a rather steep hill, one of Doveflower's paws slipped over the edge and opened her mouth in surprise, accidentally dropping Icethroat over the edge. The kit was bounced around quite a bit, but otherwise came out virtually unscathed aside from a few scratches and bruises. Oh, and brain damage from the head trauma of the fall. It was not severe and she would survive, but she would be affected by it the rest of her life.
Despite her issues, Icethroat's family raised her extremely well, taking extra care of her to be sure she was well-fed and comfortable. However, everyone knew that when it came time for her siblings to be made into apprentices, she would not have that luxury. And when they joined FogClan, it was Owlstar that decided that when she was apprentice age, Icethroat would be retired into the elder's den and receive her "Warrior's name" at the other apprentice's ceremony. The day came Icekit became Icethroat and then had to watch from the sidelines as her siblings and other playmates earned their apprentice names and were assigned their mentors.
Ever since that night, Icethroat has watched her siblings and old denmates grow older, just like her, but also in a different way. They are learning and growing as cats, while she is just physically growing and becoming more bitter as the moons pass.
