Why was having ties so hard?
Raccoontail looked around, back toward MeadowClan territory. He couldn't see it past the decrepit barn of the ranch in the distance, and he wasn't sure that, even if he could see the border, he'd see it as his clan's territory. His paws were taking him further and further away from cats who took him in, willingly; had trained him until he was almost up to par with his former gang-member self, willingly....And he was treating the whole thing like they were just a waypoint. Just a stop on the journey, rather than an end.
He hated to think it was a certain calico that was making him leave. He was over Abby. He wasn't going back to the railroad to avoid ever meeting this new she-cat, he was going because he didn't belong in MeadowClan. They were just a waypoint.
The vibrations of an approaching train were comforting, lifting away his troubles as he neared the tracks. Raccoontail smiled at the blast of the whistle, the smell of the smoke. The grey-tan tabby laid his head down on the tracks and laid motionless as the train rushed upon him.
The train flew over.
And it was bliss.

tallflower Oh StarClan... He was dead. He'd killed himself and it was her fault. It was Oakheart all over again. They'd only had a short conversation and he excused himself for whatever reason. She normally wouldn't have worried about it, but something deep within her mind compelled her to follow. And then she watched as Raccoontail put his head down on some weird two-leg contraption and then the biggest monster she had ever seen in her life run over his head. She couldn't help herself and as it rushed past, she let out a loud yowl, unable to believe that she'd seen yet another tom killed right in front of her eyes. Her legs shook and eventually went out under her weight. Her chest heaved as she hyperventilated. When the giant monster passed, Tallflower could see his pelt and she knew it wouldn't move again. But she couldn't bring herself to leave just yet.

The tom stayed motionless for a few minutes. The vibrations of the train could still be felt on the ringing tracks, and Raccoontail let them ease his mind. He didn't have to feel bad about leaving MeadowClan. It wasn't like he had just used them. He had done his fair share of the work, as was expected, and now he could leave. In fact, if he ran fast enough he could catch a train at the next station.
Getting up slowly, he took a look around.
Damn it.
There she was. Again. And now she looked like something was wrong with her. He was sorely tempted to just walk away like he did before, but his parents raised him better. He couldn‘t just walk away from someone who was like that, and a she-cat no less.
”Are you...okay, miss?”

tallflower How was he alive? And completely fine? Tallflower felt her eyes grow huge as he walked up to her like nothing just happened. A giant monster had just ran over his head! Was he made of monster skin? "D-did you just get run over b-by.... That?" Her eyes followed the tail end of the giant monster for a moment, not exactly knowing what to call it. Her dark yellow eyes then flickered to him, staring hard to be sure that his head was still attached to his shoulders, or that his fur didn't shine any differently in the sunlight, as if he'd died and was now a part of StarClan, returned to give her a message. "W-what were you doing...?"

No cat had ever witnessed his little hobby. Or at least, any-cat that had hadn't stuck around. He was amused, to say the least, to watch Tallflower's eyes push toward tripling in size. Following their gaze he turned to watch the train disappear from sight. It hadn't shown any signs of slowing down, but that didn't mean there wasn't a station nearby.
"Hm?" he flicked an ear around to listen to the she-cat's stuttered question before turning to fix his gaze on her to answer it. "Just letting myself get run over by a train...nothing too out of the ordinary, for me at least," he said with a chuckle. Raccoontail briefly wondered if that comment would only serve to distress her more...he wondered if it would distress Abigail more. "But...uh technically, miss, it's not really, running over me. "
Raccoontail observed the she-cat closely. She looked in bad shape, at least, mentally. He wanted to get a way from her and get on with his life, but not if it meant he had to leave her frozen with shock, staring dumb after a train. "So, no harm to me, but you look fixed to swoon, if you don't mind me saying. Y'need help?"

tallflower "I..." Her eyes dropped and she shuffled her paws a bit, kneading blades of grass with her claws. "Thought I saw you die in front of me." Images ran through her mind in rapid-fire of the day that she saw her mate killed. That rogue's claws coming down on his throat. How loud she had screamed at the sight of Oakheart's blood running out. Oakheart's last smile at her before the light went from his eyes. She glanced up at Raccoontail for only a moment before dropping her gaze. Suddenly she became aware of how alone they were. What if more rogues came for her? With her head still down, her eyes flickered from side to side, trying to be more aware of her surroundings. They were so exposed. What would happen if they were, in fact, attacked? "We should get back to camp." She said quietly, not wanting to risk anything that had happened in the past.

Tallflower's concern, or really, her reaction, took Raccoontail by surprise. It was odd to find a cat who would be devastated after seeing a stranger die. Though, he had to admit, having actually seen a cat get run over, death by train wasn't really high on the list of things everyone should have to see. He wasn't dead though. So...why was she still so...deer-ish?
"Camp...yeah." Well. So much for running away to catch a train in true romantic fashion. But then, he had offered to escort her back in the first place. And she looked so much like Abby...He'd take Abby back. He'd take Tallflower back if Abby had asked him to, which she would, being the motherly type. "Should we take things slow, or are you steadier now on your feet there ma'am?"

tallflower Her amber eyes were still frightened as they flicked about, waiting for a band of rogues to fall upon them and kill Raccoontail, just like they did to Oakheart. Then she looked at the tom, shaking a bit. "I-I'm fine." She said, shaking herself a bit to calm herself down. "I'd just really like to get back to camp." Tallflower stood, her long tail flicking back and forth.

"Well, ah, alright then." Raccoontail walked past her, heading back the way he'd came. Despite the she-cat's words he wasn't sure she really was fine, but who was he to pry? In any case, things were getting boring, just standing around talking about...nothing really. But then something dawned on him. Why exactly was Tallflower at the tracks in the first place? Had she been running away too...or had she followed him?
"So what were you doin' here miss? The tracks are a bit of an odd place for a lady to be...no offense meant, of course."
