Story Title: All things bright and beautiful.
Author: Me.
Character(s): Sedgekit, Gingerclaw. (credit to Whiskers)
Genre: Past.
Rating: G. At least, I think it's okay. Somebody let me know if it needs to be PG.
Warnings: None that I can think of. I know this is horrible of me, but I sort of tried to use a voice like Whiskers did in her fic about them. I'll take it down if you don't like me using your idea, Whisk. e.e
Author's Note: Okay, so this started as a drabble for a chosen prompt: strength. But once I got to where I was happy with it and wanted to stop, it was already 150 words. So I just kept going and this is the result.

All things bright and beautiful You are
All things wise and wonderful You are
In my darkest night, You brighten up the skies
A song will rise
I will sing a song of hope
Sing along...

“Look up at the sun, Sedgekit. It came to see you,” Mother says. I wish I could make her voice not sad anymore (because when I hear her voice being sad I feel my heart chipping away), but I’m not strong enough. I look at the sun, though, like Mother says. All I want is for her to be happy.
The sun is big and bright and strong, like Mother. It makes the sky Mother’s colors. There is pink there. Pink is her favorite, but she told me not to tell. The sun drove away the rain, and it’s making Mother’s colors shine through the drops left on the leaves. Everything is Mother’s colors. Everything is Mother.
I wish I could stay for her, but I can’t. I want so much to be like the sun. When I go I’ll be like it, and Mother can look at the sky and smile and remember me. She will know I’m strong then. Just like Mother.
Just to know you
And be loved is enough...
Maybe I’ll be able to put pink in every rising sun day. Pink is Mother’s favorite color. She would like that. And she would know it was me because she loves me and I love her and everything is warm and good. I will make the world good for you, Mother. You won’t have to worry about me anymore. No more memories telling you good morning, Mother.
I want to tell her everything is fine, but my mouth forgot how to make words. All I do is look at Mother. So beautiful she is. When I am as strong as the sun, I’ll be able to drive away her rain clouds. Then she’ll be more beautiful than a thousand suns. She will be happy when her clouds are gone, not weighing down her world with sadness and hating me.
I’ll do it for you, Mother.
Mother, would you like to know the first thing I’ll do when my body dies and my Me leaves it? I’ll catch a star for you and give it to you so you can be strong without me. You crying for me would not be good. I know you love me even without sadness. Be happy for me, Mother! The sun is coming to get me. And I’ll be just as strong as it one day.
Listen to the birds, Mother! They're singing a song of happy and warm and good, just like the sun. Please be happy. I'm going now... going to be like the sun. For you, Mother. All for you.
All things new
I can start again...
