Smokepaw(fray)
Natural Female
Of 8 moons
Ranked Apprentice
Loyal to MeadowClan -formerly loner-
Born to white she-cat, ginger belly+chest(Unknown name; NP) Black tom w/gray stripes(dead)
Siblings: None
Other Kin: Unknown
Mate: None yet
Crush: None yet
Kits: Most-likely never will
Beliefs: Skeptical a bit about StarClan's 'powers'. Not like the rest of her Clan, but thinks there's more to life than just cats praising their ancestors. StarClan never answers the so many questions Smokepaw could have in her, and she always thought stars where just there to light up the night. Thinks there is something that created it all, non-StarClan. Thoughtful about it. Doesn't care if she breaks the warrior code, but if it's something big like killing a cat, or having forbidden feelings, then she'd care and will feel guilty.
Appearance: Smokepaw is a medium Sokoke cat, mixed with some breed of white cat. Her muzzle is a bit narrow, and she has a arrow chest, perfect for running, some muscles and dark green eyes. She's a tall she-cat, taller than most apprentices her age, about the size of the oldest apprentice in the Clans. Smokepaw's pelt is black, with white dash on the chest; underneath the black, you can see an ginger pelt, which is actually brighter, and you'll realize the black are long stripe-like swirls. White-tipped tail.
Personality: Smokepaw's a generally laid-back character. She likes to make cats chill out about the warrior code; it's not so big of a deal to her. Respectful of the other Clans, although she sometimes view them as mousebrained, like she can think of her own. Can sometimes get annoyed easily, depending on what it is.
Smokepaw is some-what mischievous and secretive. Doesn't trust other cats until she's positive they're nice, due to her past, and is very observant. She can sometimes notice things others don't. Very clever and imaginative when coming up with her next moves, and can be incredibly quiet when spying or on a mission. Smokepaw likes to increase her hearing by doing an excersice her father taught her. Intelligent, challenging, not afraid to voice her thoughts boldly.
Smokepaw can be very competitive. Loves battles, physical activities, and activities that includes thinking a bit. Will only fight for herself and her Clanmates, but will try feebly to calm her Clanmate if he/she is fighting a cat, due to her gentle nature, but still enjoys competition. Climbing trees, rolling in leaves, and playing outdoors is one of her favorites.
Like all cats, Smokepaw has some character traits that are unusual. She sometimes talks to herself in third-person. The reason why she does this is because she things it's 'proper'. Other than that, she's not really sure, besides liking how it sounds. Smokepaw also hates staying still too long. She can hardly stay still for more than ten, slow rabbit hops, which she gets from her father. The apprentice is a bit embarrassed by this, considering she might be struggling to stay still when her warrior ceremony comes...
Smokepaw is the one who doesn't really care about having a mate, at the moment. Doesn't want kits at all. Thinks it's a bit dumb and it makes her feel uncomfortable if she was ever asked that.
Skills: Smokepaw is great at running and springing, do to her long legs, which also makes her swift. She can hold off an opponent for a moment, but her swiftness and wits are no match for the wits and training of an older, or more experienced, cat.
History: Before Smokepaw was born, her father was stolen from an observation on the new and just discovered breed, sokoke. Her father was a full-blooded one, and it's rather odd because the scientists compared him and his breed to the savannah cat, but it was proven the breed was mainly domestic.
Later, after discovering his capture, he raced away, finding himself in MeadowClan territory. There, he met a traveling loner. The two soon grew use to each other's presence, and feel in love. Smokepaw's mother fell out of love a moon or two after announcing her bearing kits. When the birthing came, her father and mother were on a debate about the name. Finally, they chose, 'Stone'. Her mother never told Smokepaw her mother's name, because she was going to leave, and she did, after the she-cat stopped drinking milk.
After her mother left, Smokepaw's father came over with the stress of his mate leaving him. The she-cat and her father spent their days hunting, with was fortunately plentiful, and they both had happy days, including meeting other loners, which replaced the aching loneliness in her father's heart. Her father was murdered, when she was 7 moons old, after a small meeting with a few loners. One of the loner brought a former rogue, who'd just changed his ways the past half-moon.
The rogue and her father got in an argument over territory- his territory was also the rogue's former boundaries. The rogue got too heated, then attacked. He chased him until he was trapped between a rushing river and the rogue. The distance of the river was too far to jump. The rogue slayed her father in an instant, leaving the other loners to hopelessly attack the rogue. One told the others that he was to tell Smokepaw, and they agreed to trap their enemy in a well-known cave, so they could kill him. After the story was done, Smokepaw followed the tom to where the body lay. Once she was there, the loner went off to where the others were.
She was found, grieving, next to him, after discovering his body that had been slain by the vicious rogue. He was in an icy stream, water flowing through his blood. She explained that she just found him there and looked on his neck to seek teeth marks, and said what the loner recalled. The MeadowClan leader accepted Smokepaw as their apprentice, promising to explain to the loner. The she-cat, hopefully, plans one day to find out what happened, and to see if her father's death was revenged.
Smokepaw had grown little use to the other apprentices and the talks of war. It sometimes makes her shiver at the thought. Why couldn't everyone just shut up and get along? Each cat was better off in numbers, weren't they? Smokepaw sometimes feel like she doesn't belong there, but she makes the best of it, and isn't afraid to try something new. At least she's well-fed and is stronger, right?
As for her father's death, Smokepaw is mainly depressed when thinking about it. Clan-life seems so different. It was strange and she didn't like her name, due to the fact that her father named her. Sometimes it made her angry with all the talk about StarClan, but Smokepaw knew she had to respect their decision in believing ancestors in stars. The apprentice is also lonely because of this. There is basically no one to guide her through her way, but Smokepaw knows not to be selfish.
Role-play Example:
Dark pools of clouds began to form around the atmosphere. The whole Clan began to prickle in discomfort. They hadn't thought about checking the whether when they were on their way to battle. Everyone feel silent for a moment, thinking of a solution. Smokepaw felt her den mate's feet shuffle uneasily. A swirl would be coming soon. If they left now, they'd make it to camp, but would die anyway.
There was no abandoned badger or fox sets in MeadowClan territory. Her stomach bubbling with fear, she quickly began to dig desperately. Everyone stared, but she paid no attention. Finally, they saw what she was doing. They all quickly began to gather leaves, bark, branches, if can, and long grasses to shield their new shelter.
Everyone huddled quickly inside, sharing each others fur. The warriors and deputy piled waited impatiently as the first rain drops fell from the sky. Smokepaw watched heard their feet patter restlessly, making her annoyed. That wasn't going to help any.
When mud began to form, the deputy and warriors, along with the leader and apprentices, gathered all the supplies and plastered them together with the mud. Just before the swirl was finally about to touch the earth, the helpers plastered the last piece of the puzzle. Relived, she began to grow active in the den, moving from one place from another.
As the last of the wind and rain left, the Clan quickly raced out of the den.
