“I believe that no one can really define who or what daemons are, because they're different for everyone.”
This is partially true. It's like the Theory of Relativity, you can't define something because it's completely different to everyone. However, one thing that can be agreed on is that dæmons are you. That “you” is different for every person who sees their dæmon, but it's still a “you”.
“In your post, you sound just a lil' arrogant because you act like you know everything.”
I apologize if this makes me sound even more arrogant. I don't know everything, but I know more about dæmons than you do.
“I disagree, and I have no idea why you think this. Enlighten me, please? In the Golden Compass, sometimes daemons were the only method of communication between people. Why shouldn't they interact? As Mil says "It's a hell of a dull life with only one person to talk to." So are you saying Pullman is wrong and you're right, or what? I'd love to know the reasoning.”
NUMBER ONE RULE OF DÆMONS: THEY ARE NOT THE ONES IN PULLMAN'S BOOK.
Do not use that as a reference, Cloudie. Those are fiction books written for young adults.
Like I said and you agreed with, dæmons are your subconscious. The deepest part of your mind. What you are saying – and it's quite preposterous – is that your subconscious can communicate with other people's subconscious. That's like deep space telepathy. Please, do teach me how to do that.
“Also, if you thought this, why didn't you say it earlier?”
Because I thought “oh, it's just a thing, they'll get over it or calm down about it.” May's “settlement” spurred me into action.
“Again, who made you the decider of the ways of all daemons?”
I'm not, these are common facts known among dæmon veiwers.
“Also, why do you think you can define perfectly what a soul is, especially for everyone?”
I have no idea where souls came into the conversation. Enlighten me.
“And what about Jeyllisa? Who, incidentally, you claim is Rolo?”
What about her? My claims that she's Rolo are... lighthearted. She acts how Rolo acts, which I suppose is what balances how I act. Hah, further proof of Rolo and I being soul mates, hurr hurr.
“Also, are you saying we don't know who we are,”
At the moment, whether you realize it or not, you don't know precisely who you are. It's a side affect of puberty and growing up, I'm afraid.
“or we're stupid or crazy?”
Hell no, you're some of the smartest people I've ever met.
“our core one day reaches a point where we know who we are.”
This, my friends, is when your dæmon settles.
“We can't change who we are, deep down.”
Over time, Cloudie, an apple's core rots, and a soda's fizz flattens.
I'd also like to say that Pyro's comment about the "last names" is an extremely good observation.

Thanks, Crow. You've really helped Xen and I understand what is going on with... me. Much like Pyro, jokes about us being me find a way to worm themselves into most conversations, except it's usually me telling Xen that he's me. It's still a bit of an odd thing for me, interacting with him. We can't seem to get over the fact that we're each other, but we're still managing to talk.
Actually, we don't really talk a whole lot. His presence sort of flits in and out during the day, totally randomly. I can't quite put a finger on the type of situations that cause us to interact. The strangest thing for me is talking to my friends and hearing his voice making comments inside my head. It's like having two different conversations at once. Is that... normal, or are we supposed to be talking more? Or could it possibly be that I don't need to talk to him much? Gah, I don't know.
I find it incredible how easily you all have adapted to interacting with your dæmons. Just the thought readily sends my poor little brain into conniptions, and you guys can see your dæmons, like, constantly.
Do you think his name means anything in particular? Is it just an ironic little deal that he likes a name that is essentially his personality?

"NUMBER ONE RULE OF DÆMONS: THEY ARE NOT THE ONES IN PULLMAN'S BOOK."
Agreed. However, this doesn't mean they don't share similarities.
"What you are saying – and it's quite preposterous – is that your subconscious can communicate with other people's subconscious."
Perhaps. I'm still rather doubtful of this.
"Because I thought “oh, it's just a thing, they'll get over it or calm down about it.” May's “settlement” spurred me into action."
I see.
"I'm not, these are common facts known among dæmon veiwers."
Hmm. Okay.
"I have no idea where souls came into the conversation. Enlighten me."
...never mind.
"What about her? My claims that she's Rolo are... lighthearted. She acts how Rolo acts, which I suppose is what balances how I act. Hah, further proof of Rolo and I being soul mates, hurr hurr."
Yet she's you. I'm confused now. I thought you had said daemons didn't have separate personalities.
"At the moment, whether you realize it or not, you don't know precisely who you are. It's a side affect of puberty and growing up, I'm afraid."
Well, that's somewhat true, but we know at least a bit of who we are and usually more. It's not like we know nothing about who we are or are going to be.
Also, Mil just can't seem to change. And she wants to, she misses being able to change. I miss it too, sometimes. I never wanted or expected it this early. But she can't, so I'm prone to thinking she's settled. Advice?
"Hell no, you're some of the smartest people I've ever met."
Crow, you're too nice to us.
"Over time, Cloudie, an apple's core rots, and a soda's fizz flattens."
...I get what you're saying, but...I still can't really wrap my mind around it. It just doesn't make much sense to me. Even if we change drastically, we can't change who we have been and that always effects us.
"But outside of the internet, 'who do you think you are' 'uh, you' jokes run rampant between us."
See, we never have these. I guess it's because we feel more like two parts of the same being, very closely connected and very similar but not quite the same.
The whole gender thing is...not impossible, I guess, but somewhat offensive.
xD I swear the universe wanted me to ram that point home because I just heard the word 'gender' from the kitchen radio. /joking
As for Glowy, we're sort of the same. We have our days when we don't talk much and our days when we talk a bunch. We don't often talk while I'm talking to someone else, though.
"I find it incredible how easily you all have adapted to interacting with your dæmons. Just the thought readily sends my poor little brain into conniptions, and you guys can see your dæmons, like, constantly."
-shrugs- For me, it might be because I've had Mil since 5th grade, so we're very used to it. I mean, we didn't talk as much back then, but still.
That's cute about his name.
If I'll be so audacious as to quote Mil: "I like being a raven, I really do, but it'd be nice to change once in a while. But I are stuck in deez feathers. "
Pardon our bad grammar.

It's alright, Rixy. We're in a complicated debate, it's no wonder you don't understand. Do yourself a favor and read all of this: The First Daemon ChatYes I know it's long, but please, read it all. It has very helpful links as well as some basis of what we're talking about.

"See, we never have these. I guess it's because we feel more like two parts of the same being, very closely connected and very similar but not quite the same."
Never said everyone had them. I was just using it as a reference from which to help drive home the point that dæmons are not separate beings, and, subsequently, cannot converse with other dæmons.
"The whole gender thing is...not impossible, I guess, but somewhat offensive."
Is it the idea of a balance that offends you, or my comment about the last names? Either way, I didn't mean to offend. I was merely voicing what I hoped to be a helpful; observation.
"Well, that's somewhat true, but we know at least a bit of who we are and usually more. It's not like we know nothing about who we are or are going to be."
-cough- 'Fraid to say I still find it very unlikely that at such a young age you all seem to know exactly who you are and are comfortable enough with that for your dæmons to settle. I'm sure we all have a bit of a grasp on who we are, but a complete grasp? A hold? At that age? When there are still quite a few trials of adolescence to go through? Scientifically speaking, like straight of ye olde textebook, personality traits (among a few other things) don't settle completely until around 17-20. I'm sure it feels like you do...I mean, I've gone through pseudo-settlings a couple of times, and both times, after a few weeks, I found that Riothamus hadn't settled, and that traits I thought I had, I didn't. Times I thought I was 'mentally-matured', if you will, it turned out there were still things I didn't know about myself.
